Pros: Repel is definately less toxic than other products. Cons: Repel doesn't work any better than anything else I've used.
Can cause irritation.
During our summer vacation I bought Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent figuring I would try something that looked less toxic and perhaps might even work in spite of not having DEET. What is Repel Repel claims to be a plan ...
Pros: Natural, but effective. Cons: Strong, acidic stuff. Washes off.
If you live somewhere like Minnesota, mosquitoes- swarms of them- are a fact of life. This in turn makes bug repellent a fact of life as well if you ever intend enjoying the outdoors between June and August. I'm no big fan of Deet-based bug repellent ...
Pros: Repels ticks, even when their are millions.
Cons: stinks to high heaven. (a pro?)
I like to go hiking with the dogs, but what I don't like is coming home and finding two ticks on me and one on the dog. Tick are by far one the nastiest creatures ever conceived by Lucifer himself. Since I didn't want to stop hiking with the dogs, and I ...
Pros: Easy to use and works well. Cons: There isn't anything I don't like about it.
This is great stuff. I am always the person the mosquitoes flock to and with "Repel Lemon Eucalyptus" I don't get any bites when we go out to dinner. The restaurants in our little town of Jaco are all outdoors, so bug repellent is a must. I don't know where I bought this stuff but I'm definitely going to look for more.
Pros: Non-DEET, Worked very well Cons: May cause skin irritation
I have been very happy with the results we have had when using Repel Lemon Eucalyptus to repel mosquitos. I have used the spray and the lotion and had better results and coverage with the lotion.
I originally purchased Repel because we were heading to Yucatan Peninsula during mosquito season and I was 6 months pregnant and did not want to use a DEET product. I used this in the jungle in Belize and had no problems with mosquito bites while the people on the tour with us were swatting and scratching after using their DEET products.
Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Works for My Family by susieywe ,Sep 15 '05
Pros: Works as well as the Deet-based products but much more natural Cons: Smell is very strong
Every August my family (3 kids, ages 5 to 10, a husband and a dog) rent a cabin on a beautiful lake in northern Wisconsin. Our only complaint every year is the mosquitoes. For those of you who dont know it, mosquitoes are Wisconsins state bird.
This year, I tried Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent. Ive always been nervous about using a product on my kids that contains Deet and liked the idea of a lemon scent. I was very pleased with the results. This product worked as well as the ones Ive used before with Deet and everyone definitely liked the smell better, although the scent is still pretty powerful.
Mosquitoes in Wisconsin in August will always be a problem, but I think this product works as well as anything else Ive used and I like the natural aspect of it. I found the 4 oz. lotion at my local REI. Its also available online at www.rei.com
Pros: Powerful as all get out. Cons: Powerful as all get out -- DO NOT get in eyes; sensitive skin areas.
Don't let the "natural" air of this product fool you -- it works hard and long, easily approaching DEET's effectiveness. There is a price to pay. Repel is seriously odoriferous, likely a large part of its effectiveness. However, when it comes to repelling -- or more likely confusing -- mosquitoes, this stuff passes the New Jersey standard, in other words, it works when pitted against some of the world's nastiest known biters, led by the NJ unofficial state bird: the salt-marsh mosquito.
Repel REALLY works against Vermont bugs! by skivt2 ,Jul 09 '09
Pros: Very effective against a range of bugs. Cons: Need to reapply every few hours to keep up the repellency.
I'm impressed. This stuff works really well against mosquitoes, ticks and even black flies. I have given it to a bunch of logger friends who battle daily with the bugs and they were all impressed. No more DEET for us.
