  • The 360. Not just a surf sound axe

    Nov 30, 2003 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Killer tone. Killer looks. Ultimate Feel and action. Slice of History.
Cons: Free floating tailpiece and bridge assembly.

Summary: I had to admit I was in the store to look at a Les Paul Studio on sale. I know of the Rics and always thought they are meant for that vintage surf jangle sound. Out of curiosity I test-drove a 360 and I was completely BLOWN AWAY. I forgot about the Les ... read more

Pros: Extraordinary character and surprising versatility.
Cons: That funny warranty. Other than that, none. It's a taste thing.

Summary: You can find specs for the 360 anywhere, but I will add my voice to those praising the instrument's build quality and sound. Anyone assuming that Ricks will only do that jingle-jangle thing is mistaken. This is a loud, powerful guitar with plenty of ... read more

  • Beautiful piece of art but...

Pros: Stunning finish, mellow shimmering sound.
Cons: Difficult to play, sharp body edges, only 6 saddles.

Summary: This is the most beautiful guitar ever. It has one big problem - it is quite impossible to play due to the small space between each pair of strings and the next one. The only chords that I was able to make sound decently were G and A (maybe someone with ... read more

  • A Guitar That Jingle Jangle Jingles

    Dec 7, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: a famous sound beautifully put together
Cons: a neck that may defy some players

Summary: Odds are if you're already considering the Rickenbacker 360-6 (the 6 indicates that we're talking about the 6-string model) you've got some idea of what to expect, sonically, from this guitar: clean, bright, ringing sounds, the sort of warm jangly timbre ... read more

  • Beautiful instrument

    Oct 12, 2000 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: looks great, clean sound, easy to play
    Cons: durability questionable

Summary: This is the best guitar i have ever played. It sounds best played clean, for gentle melodic solos. It's so easy to play due to the light finger action and thin neck. Unlike a Les Paul which is best played hard and heavy-handedly, this instrument ... read more

  • Classic beauty

    Apr 28, 2006 by
    Rated Show
Pros: Craftsmanship, design, finish, feel, sound
Cons: 6 saddle bridge; should be 12 saddles for best intonation

Summary: I also own one of these (since 1992) and I can say it's a beautiful piece of work. This is the re-issue of the vintage 1964 red 360/12 that the Beatles' George Harrison played on Hard Days Night and other songs. I play this on my own solo music and have ... read more

  • Great Guitar

    Oct 10, 2005 by

    Pros: Beautiful styling, wonderful sound.
    Cons: Heavy.

Summary: This guitar has an absolutely wonderful tone and feel. I own one and am very pleased with its quality. Many famous guitarists also use this guitar including Tom Petty, John Fogerty and Roger McGwinn. It's a little on the heavy side, but is totally worth ... read more

  • Power Pop Machine

    Feb 15, 2004 by
    Rated Show
Pros: Easy to play - forgiving
Cons: Some rattles from the assembly

Summary: I would summarize the Ric as being a power-pop-machine. The history of Rics is well known - artist from The Beatles, The Who, The Byrds, REM, Tom Petty, The Jam, The Bangles, The Church, Puffy have used them. The clean sound can be vintage 60's and ... read more
