Pros: Luxurious accomodations, numerous dining options, flexible and helpful staff, everything you want in one place Cons: Less predictable weather, further drives to sights, pricey (but worth it!)
The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua is a five-diamond property on the island of Maui, one of the most popular islands for destination weddings and honeymoons. I’ve been to the Ritz twice in the last two years, once over Thanksgiving Weekend 2000 and more recently...
Pros: Beautiful Location, Excellent Service, Pleasant Pool...A Quiet Oasis Cons: Restaurant Prices, Rooms Dated, A Little Isolated from the Action
My wife and I just returned from the Ritz Carlton Kapalua after spending 9 nights there for our 10th Anniversary. We had a wonderful time and were very pleased with the hotel overall. First, lets dispense with some of the misconceptions the ...
Pros: Beautiful resort and lovely grounds, the staff were polite and attentive, really nice room Cons: expensive - also a $15- resort fee is charged daily
My husband and I were fortunate enough to spend our honeymoon in Hawaii. We spent 5 days in Oahu and 7 days in Maui. Although Oahu was a lovely island, it could not compare to the beauty of Maui.
Pros: Gorgeous, secluded scenery, luxurious charm, impeccable service, great golf and dining Cons: somewhat secluded, it can get windy on the golf course
I have been to Maui on serveral occassions, and have visited countless hotels -- even time shares. This is by far the best hotel I have stayed at. (Perhaps even the best in the U.S.)
Let me start by stating that I am a very picky hotel guest:...
Pros: Great for kids, outstanding spa staff, discounted rates on expedia Cons: Tired, in need of renovation
The Pits Carlton Time for an Extreme Makeover: Hotel Edition To most people, this hotel may be fine, in fact more than fine, however having traveled to multiple Ritz Carltons, my eyes may be a little more attuned to details I would ...
Pros: Resort perfection - service and amenities are exceptional, natch... Cons: Spotty weather, free parking lot a bit far
My wife and I spent our honeymoon here at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua (RC-Kap) for our honeymoon in October 2002. We've had more enjoyable vacations before, considering "every" detail of a vacation, but the RC-Kap is BY FAR the nicest hotel we've ever ...
Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful location/grounds. Cons: Musty rooms, billing problems, non-refundable extra $15 per day resort fee, way overpriced!
My husband and I stayed at the Ritz during the 1st four days of our vacation/honeymoon. I was expecting a lot from the Ritz since I had read a lot of good reviews and made my choice to stay there based on the good reviews. I was quite dissapointed to ...
Pros: The best service ever, guaranteed. Cons: A little pricey, and kind of spooky.
In the Hawaiian culture the ancestors were buried high in the mountains, in sand dunes and in the caves on the islands. There are many different burial traditions that are far different from those on the mainland. When I was staying at the lovely Ritz ...
Pros: Nice location. Cons: More like a 3-star - not worth the money. Hotel next door supposedly far better.
I have to say that while I agree that Ritz offers outstanding hotels, the one in Maui did not live up to my other experiences at other Ritz hotels. The Ritz Maui is of course a very nice hotel, but for the price, it is a bit disappointing. Again, the ...
Pros: Terrace restaurant service and Sunday seafood buffet Cons: Location, slowness, incompetent hotel management, their slowness to make things right.
The stay at Ritz Carlton Kapalua has been a very irritating experience. I expected an incredible, luxurious experience but instead this stay has had a myriad of annoying problems. Rather than going on and on with descriptive adjectives, let me just list ...
25 great nights at the Ritz by thefinlander ,Feb 06 '05
Pros: Location; very friendly service; views; uncrowded feeling; beauty of the premises, beach, and surroundings. Cons: none
Aloha! Just packing up here in Partial Ocean View room xx49, after a terrific stay of 25 nights ending Feb 6, 2005. We normally cruise our way through winter (to avoid Toronto weather), but this winter elected to stay in Maui and Florida, so we were a bit nervous about being strangers in a strange land for such a long stay. But Maui is wonderful, the Ritz is wonderful, and the Ritz beach is wonderful. Everyone we met was happy to be here, and all services were terrific. We rented a Harley for a tour of SE Maui, and a Corvette another day for a tour of NW Maui, and recommend both, for fun. Golf at all 3 Kapalua courses is great, and we can recommend taking the Ritz shuttle to have dinner at the Plantation and the Village when you want to wander out from the Ritz resort. My laptop works fine with the in-room high speed LAN connection. And all service with a smile by Ritz staff. We will come back!
an incredible family vacation by tsquair ,Oct 20 '04
Pros: helpful, courteous staff; many nearby restaurants to choose from; comfortable, clean accommodations; beautiful landscaping Cons: driving distance from the Maui airport (45 minutes without traffic); the strong wind
Our family of 4 stayed at the Ritz in early June 2004 for a week. Our children were 2 1/2 years old and 6 months at that time. The Ritz accommodated us with an additional joining room, and they supplied a crib and a pack and play. A technician hooked up a VCR in the kids' room, and we also rented a small frig. The baby sitting service was very helpful and convenient for our schedule, so my wife and I were able to enjoy plenty of time to ourselves for dinning, snorkeling, etc. As for activities, the helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters around the whole island of Maui was very informative with many absolutely beautiful views of the many Maui waterfalls and coastline. We would also highly recommend the snuba / snorkeling tour with Maui Charters on the Four Winds.
Pros: - great grounds
- kapalua is a heaven for golf Cons: - better rooms in a westin
- pathetic staff
- not beach front
my wife and i stayed here in 12/04 for a late anniversary trip. we were pretty excited b/c we had heard great things about the ritz and having had superb experiences at other top-tier chains (e.g., four seasons), we expected more of the same.
we were dead wrong!
- location: this is NOT a beach front resort. there are no facilities on the beach itself (they have a little grassy area above the beach). no chairs, no drinks, no food. lame.
- rooms were very average and looked tired.
- maid service was terrible. had trouble getting the basics: toiletries, towels.
- concierge was inept. she recommended that we leave for haleakala @ 3AM. we arrived at a very grumpy 5:20AM-- way before the sunrise. she was not very helpful/knowledgeable with either hana or haleakala, which is surprising given that those are two of the biggest attractions/sights on maui!
the good thing was that the golf was terrific and my wife enjoyed the spa. this is definitely a "one-and-done" experience. not going back.
if you're looking for luxury, trek to the four seasons at hualalai (on big island; also heard great things about the four seasons in wailea). magic.
Pros: Fabulous service with a picturesque setting!!! Cons: It rained a little, but this is Hawaii!!!
My fiance and I vacationed at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua for a few days and I wish we could have stayed longer! The resort is secluded, quiet, and offers such a great elegance. The service was wonderful! We received an upgrade to our room and were treated like royalty. My fiance enjoyed the golf course and I enjoyed the spa. We had several meals at the resort and enjoyed them all! The pool service was great too! Laying by the pool was so relaxing and a waiter came around with pieces of pineapple for everyone! We will definately be back!
Pros: Extra clean, large rooms. Huge bathroom. Great breakfast buffet. Whole resort is fantastic! Cons: None
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Resort in Kapalua for 5 nights in October 1999. This is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. We had an ocean-view room which was incredible. It was very relaxing to just sit and watch the ocean. The room was perfect. Extremely clean. The bathroom was huge and made out of all marble. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet. It is the best breakfast we have ever had. We usually ate so much that we didn't have to eat lunch. The pools are very nice and clean. The beach is very nice and private. The setting is very quite. A nice change from the noise of Lahaina. Worth the little extra money to stay here!
