Pros: Heats up fast, Holds plenty of food. Cons: Power cord attaches magnetically, useless window, can only go up to 350 degrees
This is a large, kitchen counter top, deep fryer. It is a movable appliance, it is not installed into the counter. The controls are all in the front and are self-explanatory as well as easy to use. There is an on/off knob that can also function as ...

Pros: Cleans up nicely. Easy to use. Cons: Safety plug comes out too easily. Window on lid useless. Can't find reset button.
This is my first deep fryer bought at Target for $66 or so. I have used it 3 times already and still have to get used to it. I used it for chicken legs first - they came out a little underdone because I was not sure of what I was ...

Pros: Closed-lid basket-lowering.
Nice compact design. Cons: Magnetic power cord coupler releases too easily.
Unit failed right out of the box.
The good news: You can close the top lid before lowering the basket into the oil. Also, the basket has a small enough mesh that no food (like skinny fries) will escape. The overall design is nice, making an attractive appliance, with easy to use ...

A full featured, easy to use deep fryer.
by m2brew ,Sep 16 '06
Pros: cool touch, fast heating, removable oil pan, easy to use and gives crispy results Cons: large size, window in lid is obscured by steam when using
I bought this deep fryer for $50 at Kmart as an upgrade to deep frying in a pot on the stove. It is very easy to use and has given good results with french fries, pierogies, tater tots, samosas, and fried tofu.
The fryer can handle cooking approximately 4 servings in a batch. It heats from room temperature to frying temperature (e.g. 350 degrees) in 5 minutes. Its capacity for oil is approximately 2-2.5 quarts. The exterior is truly cool touch, except for the lid, which can get warm, but not extremely hot. The overall size is a bit large, but it can be moved and stored with oil inside.
Features: frying basket, removable oil pan, immersed coil heating element (faster and more responsive than heating through the walls of the pan), magnetic safety plug, cool touch exterior, oil vapor and odor filter, a hinged lid that can be closed before lowering food into oil, temperature set dial (up to 375 degrees), ready light, shutoff timer.

Don't do it.
by tylerdulac ,Oct 12 '08
Pros: Takes up space that useful things should be using. Cons: Too big to throw accross the parking lot.
Purchased one at Target 6 days before it died. Was on sale for $42, now it appears that it was because they're not reliable. Would never buy another Rival product. E Fix It web sitre is full of other consumers that have the same problem with theirs. I wish I would have read that first. Worked fine for two or three cooking sessions on different days, like others have noted on other sites, it dies early and the mystery reset switch is NOT on the back of the control panel like the manual says.

Fryer basket broke after using three times
by dollardays ,Jan 02 '09
Pros: Heats fast and cooks food evenly. Inexpensive and easy to use. Cons: Plastic handle is not made well- broke after light use.
This fryer heats uo fast and does a great job cooking the foods but I had only used the unit three times when the plastic handle broke where the steel rod was inserted. I tried gluing it without luck so now I am going to have to purchase a new basket because the lid doesn't close unless the basket is in place.

It just stopped heating
by a-e-o ,Aug 29 '08
Pros: Worked great the first few times Cons: Stopped working completely
We were happy with this unit for the first few uses, but after we took it apart to clean it, it stopped working. We attempted all of the troubleshooting suggestions, but still nothing. The manual made a promise of a reset button on the back of the control unit, but did not illuminate where such a reset button might be.
After searching for the button for awhile, I called Rival. The customer service representative on the phone held fast to the idea of a reset button, but could not illuminate where such a reset button might be. Her final suggestion was that I return the unit to the store, which appears to be how our relationship with this fryer will conclude.

Works better than expected
by chewchew ,Jan 12 '09
Pros: Pros: removable dishwasher safe parts. Able to cook lge amts Bottom weighted for safety Cons: Window useless Cord comes off too easily Filters hard to find Hard to store
I've owned my deep fryer for over a year, we actually walked into Kmart in hip waders to buy it fresh oysters were waiting. It has done a pretty good job. To clean the product is both easy and hard. The unit comes apart very well inner pan, handle and basket also submersible heating element. However, I have a problem with some oil getting into the bottom of the exterior due to steam and droplets that stick to the lid then run down when you open it. The lid is removable too.
We don't fry often...we bought it for seafood but when you fry the hotter more consistant the temperature the less oil absorbed. We have friends that look forward to fried food at our house.
