Pros: Inexpensive to purchase or manufacture, came as OEM. Cons: Has very little adjustment(preload only),a high degree of deflection, and clunky suspension action.
I based my fork choice on overall brand reputation, not on the model. I should have chosen my second choice- a Manitou Black-which has the adjustability, rigidity, light weight, and performance to match the Cane Creek shock that is on the rear of my Trek...
Pros: Takes abuse, sturdy, and no lateral instability. Cons: I bought a red one.
When I first purchased this fork I was wary of the abuse it could take. After some great spills, one hard enough to blow my front tire completely (I had to replace the tube and the tire), the biatch handled them perfectly. I don't believe in riding like a nancy-boy, I push it to the limit and take a lot of chances. The fork does a great job. I took my fork to the shop and had them adjust it from 100mm to 80mm. Of course on the wipe-outs it bottomed out, I doubt one under $400 wouldn't. But it doesn't bottom out when I test it by running straight into curbs. It just goes with the flow and handles perfectly. There is nothing wrong with this fork, unless your a pro DH racer, but if you were you wouldn't be buying a fork under $200 now would you , Nancy?
