Pros: Has that sound that makes you love to hear yourself play. Built like a tank. Cons: Not a tube amp, but this solid state is first rate.
I have been the proud owner of a Jazz Chorus for over a year now, and I have never regretted my purchase for a second. Where some amps that I buy sound good for awhile but end up sounding like a cat being run over, this one's smooth tone has never grown...

roland jc 120,,,,,,,,,,,,amazing
by jhhead ,Jul 25 '04
Pros: everything Cons: none,,,,,,,,,,god was perfect and then came the jc-120
i bought my roland 5 yrs ago. never had a days worth of problems with it, and it looks cool. NOW,,,,,,,,,,lets get to the sound shall we? in a word AWESOME! the clean sound is so clear, pristine, and bright . it cuts through any band situation you can imagine. the chorous is the best setting by far. is a nice balance of effects and letting the sound of the guitar come through unlike newer amps on the market today! the vibrato is a nice feature also and can come in handy for some good old blues or if you want to get a little experimental!

This is truly one of the best amplifiers out there.
by tantman ,Oct 30 '03
Pros: If you want a clean, warm sounding, reliable amp, this is the one for you. Cons: The distortion is terrible, but that's what stomp boxes and racks are for.
I have had my JC-120 with a 4x12" speaker cabinet for about 15 years now, and I still think it's the best overall amp out there. The chorus is absolutely amazing, and it sounds great with both electric and acoustic guitars, as well as my keyboard. The only negative about this amp is that the distortion is terrible.

Worthy of Hall of Fame induction
by rwmcjazz ,Nov 23 '06
Pros: inexpensive - tough - not too heavy - great for clean settings Cons: crappy distortion - not a lot of low end crunch unless you hotrod it
Bought my Roland 12 yrs ago. It has worked virtually every day since with no problems. It's sound is accurate and uncolored. Mine has been handled roughly on numerous road trips over the years, and has stood up nicely. You name it - and I've plugged that stomp box into it. It's a great amp for clean warm jazz. Add some choice pedals and you've got a very able setup for most anything you throw at it. Keep in mind too - this amp sells for about $500. used (in good condition) - and it'll beat the pants off any amp out there in that price range. The chorus is very useful. The distortion is useless. I upgraded the speakers to Celestion Vintage 30's which gives it more high volume integrity, but this will set you back about $200. Bottom line! it's a great legendary solid state amp that'll be around for many years to come.
