Pros: Cheap, light, portable, loud, versatile practice amp Cons: No parameter controls for effects. Tuning is inconvenient.
Those of you familiar with my amp reviews know that I’m a sucker for toys (cf. my recent Power Block review of that ridiculously amusing machine). I recently was stumbling about Guitar Center and ran into a genuinely ridiculously machine called ...
Pros: Great practice amp with near professional effects. Buy it - you won't be disappointed. Cons: 2 watts and a 5 inch speaker relegates this to the practice world.
Introduction and Background Practice amps are nothing new in the world of electric guitars. The legendary Pignose 7-100 and others are excellent examples of small, portable practice amps. Then came Roland. Taking a cue from their digital ...
Pros: This amp has a good range with a lot of good sounds amp models Cons: R-fier lacks at times
Roland is known for its modelling amps and high quality products. They are most known for their cube series, and this little bad boy is no disappointment. The Roland Microcube is a 2 watt practice amp, with a 5 inch speaker. It comes loaded with effects ...
Pros: high quality portable amp, more durable and rugged than the competition Cons: The amp gets raspy and breaks up when pressed hard
The Roland microcube certainly has been a success story for the Roland corporation. To date they have sold almost a half million of these small portable amps worldwide. The microcube has inspired Roland to create other portable amps like the cube street ...
Awesome amp in a tiny package by malco23 ,Jun 15 '07
Pros: Effects are great; portable and lightweight package; killer distortion/overdrive. Cons: Difficult to adjust the amount of effect. Pricey.
This is the practice amp I have always wanted: lightweight, runs on batteries or A.C., and sounds just great. The Micro Cube has such a great sound that it's like having all the world's great amps in one package, plus it's the size of a lunch box. Its amp modeling includes Fender Black Face, Marshall Stack, Mesa Boogie, and more. Now this is a tiny amp with a small speaker, so don't expect to replace your half-stack. But if you want a small practice amp to have on hand in the bedroom or living room, just to kick out the jams, this is it. It comes with a tuning tone, too. If you're into heavier guitar sounds, you'll be particularly happy because the Mesa Boogie simulation combined with a little chorus and some delay is just killer! Not since my Tom Scholz Rockman have I been so happy with a guitar sound in a small package. It's expensive for the size ($129 at Sam Ash) but worth it. When I walk in the room and see it sitting there I just have to turn it on and rock out!
