Pros: Auto Shut off, warms quickly, large water tank, works well. Cons: Automatic cord retractor doesn't work as well as it should.
Normally my wife does most of the ironing in the house, but occasionally I try and pick up some of the slack. I noticed that we were using an out of date, old not automatic shut off iron that was both unsafe and unsatisfactory. So ...

Pros: Burst of Steam technology
Good, solid feel (heavy not clunky) Cons: Cost
Possible future leaking
I purchased this iron based on Consumer Reports and Amazon.com reviews. I read through every single one of them to see what people thought, good or bad. This is my second Rowenta iron and I have to agree with the first reviewer, they do have a ...

Verticle Steam Required
by jst4fun6111 ,Nov 28 '05
Pros: Burst of Steam Cons: Leaks like ALL Rowenta irons. Rowneta does not deem it necessaary to change this (again).
This is my second Rowenta Iron. I swore I would never buy a Rowenta again. I just could NOT find another Iron with a Burst Of Steam than this one.
Simply put, I really don't think that another Iron is out there that works as good...only thing is that you have to put up with the Bullshxt of the Iron Leaking....a trademark of Rowenta. Yes i read the reviews with Consumer Reports and they too said that if you purchase a iron just be prepared to use it for about 2-3 years..that is it. I agree I Iron all of my clothes and welcome that burst of staeam to Freshen up garments shirts pants etc as I tend to wear them twice depending.....If someone can show me a better Iron that works with a better Burst of Steam let me know!!

Poor warranty makes the product a poor value
by domesticdove ,Oct 05 '08
Pros: *The iron is heavy, and has a nice soleplate that glides smoothly over the fabric. Cons: *Poor warranty for the price. *Automatic shut off sensitive and fragile.
I loved my Rowenta iron until the heating element/automatic shut off stopped working properly. I sent my 4-5 year old iron to the approved repair center, incurring a $10.00 shipping charge, after being assured over the phone that the iron was repairable. I received a letter back from the repair company stating that they could return it to me for another $10.00 postage fee, or they could scrap it for me, but it could not be repaired as the part was no longer available...the moral of this story is...don't spend double or triple the cost of a "regular" iron when the company won't stand behind their product with a better than average warranty. I wrote the company about the situation, and heard back nothing...of course, they had my money, so why did they need to reply?
Rowenta irons are not a good value at all. I resumed using my 20 year old Black and Decker, which is still going strong.
