Pros: Not much. LP/Cassette Assistant Cons: Just about everything
I must say that I never have much luck with Roxio's products. I am never able to fully utilize all of the software's features. I have been buying each and every upgrade since 4. To pass the test for me, I must be able to a. make CDs b. ...
Pros: All parts have step by step menus, stable programs Cons: You will end up spending too much time editing media since it simplifies the process
Although this is a massive program, it is surprisingly easy to use. Even the disc authoring is made simple by the menu system and assistants. You just choose what you want to burn from a list, then the program takes you step by step. It now has divx ...
Pros: Cool name. Cons: Doesn't burn playable video cds.
I used to burn cds for a living and have always used Nero for this. One day, I had a problem with my pc and Nero was deleted and I couldn't find my cd so I borrowed this Roxio software from a friend. I've always heard of this brand from other ...
I just purchased Roxio's Media Creator 8. Got it home and loaded it but during registration, the Roxio system failed so I could not use the product at that time. I went to the Roxio website where a local Toronto, Canada phone number was my only ...
Pros: Full of features, older versions were easy to use and stable. Cons: Quirky, keep changing it around each release, full of bugs
I really liked the older versions full of features very intuitive to use and worked pretty well. I got into home movies and DVDs so getting a current version of ROXIO to do simple editing and burning seemed like a no brainer. This product is junk I ...
Pros: Choice of fast, simple, or more complicated programs Cons: Overwhelming amount of choices
I knew from experience that the burning software would be good, but I was surprised to see more choices. There is now a drag and drop icon which can reside in memory. This allows disc burning without going through the full program. I've been able to ...
Pros: Nice features.. Cons: Too bad it doesn't work.
We downloaded Roxio Creator Suite 8 and began to have problems which multiplied over a couple of weeks. First, Roxio began to not recognize our optical drives off and on. Then every program began to not recognize our disk drives, then whenever we ran ...
Pros: cleverly organized menu system Cons: I have nothing here
I can say that I haven't used anything easier in this genre. The disc authoring has the usual Roxio easy to use menu system. There is even an improvement on the menu system in that categories are now done by media type. You can jump from editing a file to burning a disc. The program will even pick a lot of the options based on the type of files you choose. Say you want to burn music, then the program knows to burn a dolby sound disc. If you have a dvd player, you can choose that option so it plays on more than your pc.
Waste of Money & Terrible in General by outdoorrecguy ,Apr 18 '06
Pros: can't really think of one Cons: huge download file, runs in the backgrounds always, customer support stinks
I have along history with Roxio dating to their version 4 back in the late 90's. I am so glad that there are finally some better alternatives. The software itself works well, but the way they enforce their licensing is so aggressive as to make it more a pain than the software is worth. The latest version 8, is no different than the past versions it tries to take over your entire computer changing file associations on any multimedia file on your hard drive. On start up it begins to run in the background, waiting to pounce on any media file you introduce into your computer whether you want to just listen to it in Windows Media Player or not, you have to wait helplessly as the Roxio center boots up and loads their slooOOOOooow software. Try to call their customer support to get some help and they are arrogant and rude. I will never buy another one of their products again because thankfully there are finally plenty of good and even free alternatives.

Pros: Easy to follow menu steps Cons: I can't say there are any yet
There are so many disc formats that I was confused about which format to choose and which file conversions were needed. This program took the complexity out of the burning process. The options are listed in plain English: disc copy, data disc, music disc, etc. The program will even detect the type of disc in your drive. After choosing your format the program leads you through each step. This makes the learning curve very small.
Although I haven't had a chance to use some of the programs, I've made a few projects including slide shows. There is great improvement in the slide show maker. It takes just a few steps to create a show. There are enough templates and special effects to make the shows interesting without resorting to a more specialized program.
There has to be a better program by bucky1234 ,May 17 '07
Pros: Audio programs are pretty good. Cons: Video programs are not well integrated and cumbersome.
This program is not designed well. I try to use the slideshow assistant and it crashes my computer. Window is minimized just when you need to use maximum window size. I can only make one VCD before I have to reload the software. Programs saved in slideshow assistant cannot be opened in that program. Go figure.
Pros: Easy menus and (apparently) user-friendly software. Cons: Poor quality and low reliability -- just because it's widely marketed doesn't make it good.
Be prepared to waste a lot of blank CDs! The Roxio Easy Media Creator appears to be full of bugs and routinely returns error messages when attempting the simplest functions (e.g., copying a music CD). If you have the option of using different software, by all means do so.
