Pros: Made for small breed dogs, 100% wholesome and natural, contains antioxidants, small nuggets and affordable! Cons: Cats may take a liking!
Being pet owners, my wife and I believe the quality of food is very important to our pets. Simply put, and like us humans, better quality food yields better physical quality of life. Keep in mind though the best quality food is not the "magic bullet" ...
Royal Canin Mini Yorkshire 28 by ragazzaitalian ,Dec 08 '03
Pros: sold in small bags, small enough for tiny mouths Cons: none
I have 2 very spoiled and extremely picky Yorkshire Terriers....WAIT!?! Isn't that redundant?? :~) Anyway.... these two would not eat any dry food....and believe me ....I tried them all. I finally found Innova dry and although it was great for my older Yorkie (and he loves it!....it was too big for the puppy, unless I chopped it into smaller pieces). Around this time..... I went to a dog show and was given a free bag of Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier 28. What a blessing. As soon as I opened the bag...the two babies loved it. They eat this for their morning meal and for snacks. Dinner is a homemade wet food. They also love Innova...another quality food. My Yorkies have the most gorgeous Long and SHINY hair. Everyone always asks what it is that I do to get their hair so beautiful...I have to say it's attributed to this Royal Canin. I'm really thrilled with the product and they love it...what more could a mommy ask for! I highly recommend this food.
Just Didn't Work for Our Dogs. by shamrockmommy ,May 10 '06
Pros: Might work well for some dogs. Cons: Didn't work for ours, diarrhea, gas, and cow pies!
We tried Royal Canin small breed for a while with our dogs.
The ingredients looked great, the concept of kibble shape seemed great also, since they claim it conforms to the dogs' muzzle shape and helps to clean teeth.
I carefully switched their food over to R.C. I noticed right away that the dogs had a lot of smelly gas. Later, the stools were runny, volumous and very unpleasant to have to scoop up and dispose of. I backed off in feeding amounts, thinking I was overfeeding, but the problem continued through the rest of the month.
Frustrated and tired of cleaning up cow plops 4 times a day, we switched to another brand.
