Summary: I just purchased the Royal Sovereign Portable Air Conditioner ARP-1000ES I have it placed in a central location of a 500 square foot studio. The unit is 10 000 BTU which would be more ideally suited to about 400 square feet, so bear that in mind as ... read more

Pros: quiet, cools a room quickly, easy to clean the filter
Cons: only does 1 room, remote is small and easy to lose

Summary: We bought this in Mid July and set it up. I thought because of the size of the thing that it would cool down our bedrooms since they're all close. The room we put it in's door is in between the other 2 bedrooms on the opposite side of the hallway. Even ... read more

  • Sears Royal Sovereign ARP-1000ES (Sears #04274902000)

Pros: Quiet. Low energy consumption. Removable air filter. Remote control. Easy setup. Rolls around. Cools quickly.
Cons: Heavy to lift by yourself so get a helper if you buy it.

Summary: I have a non air-conditioned house in the mountains of North Carolina. I have never needed A/C before this summer. With the extended drought and record-breaking temps, I could not take sleeping in my upstairs bedroom any longer. I ordered this unit ... read more

  • Huffs and Puffs, But Does the Job

    Aug 17, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Rolls easy, timer works well.
Cons: Expensive for what you get, remote is finicky. Noisy.

Summary: Got this at Sears. At 70-odd lbs, was surprised to see it rolls around rather well. Cooling is, as always, dependent on the conditions of the room. In a south-facing 14X14 room with a casement glass floor-to ceiling sliding door, it's a challenge ... read more

Pros: Portable and adapts well to slider windows.
Provides cool air for about one year.
Cons: Poorly designed with no reliability.

No service locations within 100 miles of Detroit.

Summary: Just beyond the 1-year warranty expiration, the lower blower cage self-destructed.  This is one of the only replacement parts offered by Royal Soverign, imagine the coincidence.  This cheap plastic part is buried inside the unit requiring a ... read more

Pros: When it worked, it worked well.
Cons: It died after only 2 seasons, no fault of ours.

Summary: We bought this unit in 07/06. We used it for 3 months in 06, 3 months in 07, and 1 day in 08, then it malfunctioned and never worked again. Each year we finished with this unit, we would put it away in the garage. In the less than the 2 years we owned ... read more

Cons: It didn't meet my expectations.

Summary: I can remember those days when one bought an appliance, and had to give it away to get ride of it 20 years later. Remember? When things use to be manufactured here in USA instead of China? I bought a 10000 BTU Royal Sovereign AC (Of course "Made in ... read more

  • It's hot in here

Pros: I guess it's better than nothing.
Cons: But not much better than nothing.

Summary: I must say that I am very disappointed with my unit. The hose that vents the hot air is so hot that it alone can heat the room. Also when the room is hot (which is when you would want to use an air conditioner) it will only run cold air for approximately ... read more
