  • Ryobi does it again!!

    Jun 25 '03
Pros: Longer bed, depth preset, cutter head lock
Cons: Lot of plastic in construction

Summary: When I decided to retire my aging 12" delta planer, I decided to look for 13" models. I looked at Ri ...

  • Looked and Performed Good - But Not For Long!

    Apr 12 '05
Pros: Fairly Light , Price, Acceptable Cuts, Storage Areas, Ease of Use, Accurate, Easy Assembly
Cons: Only worked for 2 Weeks!, Lots of Plastic

Summary: Let me start off by saying that I have been a professional woodworker for 15 years. Specifically, I make custom furniture for my clients. About a month ago I was looking for a small planer for my home shop. Although I have a great planer in my shop, I ...

  • Under-rated planer. Good performance/price ratio.

    Mar 11 '05
Pros: Good performance. High performance to price ratio. Features. Build quality.
Cons: Some omissions like magnets to handle blades. No rubber feet on base.

Summary: So....after reading just about every review on 13" planers I could find, and seeing the Ryobi rated mid to low when compared to other planers, I went out and bought a Ryobi AP1300. Why? I own a few Ryobi tools, including the amazing BT3100 table saw and ...

  • This planer works well

    Mar 08 '05
Pros: Ease of use Price good finish
Cons: blades were a little difficult to change

Summary: I went to Home Depot to get a Rigid suface planer that I had decided on for $350. Apparently they don't carry them in the stores, despite the fact that some moron I spoke to via the telephone there said they did (days before). Since I was going to my ...

    Pros: Light.Accurate,Quiet,Smooth Finish,Inexpensive,1YR guarantee
    Cons: None so far

Summary: This is my first Ryobi purchase as well as my first surface planer. This machine is very nice. And for the price,no need to look anywhere else. I planed some cedar and got glass a like finish, with shavings coming off like a very sharp hand plane. It

  • Outstanding: 3-4 times better than I thought it would be

    Mar 21 '05
Pros: Price/performance ratio, easy blade changes, finish
Cons: Not enough steel, depth setting is 2mm/turn not 1/16"

Summary: This is the first Ryobi tool I've ever purchased, being put off by the lightweight, plastic-y feel and (I hate to admit) the low prices. It won't certainly be the last. I've only used a few planers of this sort, I have to admit, and it's been awhile.
