This is a very good starter drill/driver. The torque setting are very useful. I had this drill/driver for about six-months when the recharger failed. I tried to find a replacement but found out it was cheaper to get a new drill than to buy a new recharger.

The unit is well designed and a pleasure to use, but it's weak link is its battery. In less than a year, the battery failed to hold a charge. My bad surprise came when I went to Home Depot to find they don't even stock a replacement battery. Why? They said the battery costs the same a replacement drill, which they'd be happy to sell me. Online, I could get it for a few bucks less, but with shipping & handling, it would cost more than a new drill.

I'm sorry but this isn't right to me. I'll be looking for a different brand with a better battery.

We bought several Ryobi rechargable 18 volt battery powered tools and battery failure occured after several uses so we bought another battery which failed after only one use!! This is totally unaceptable and we are stuck with sevral tools which we can't use until we build a power supply for them. Avoid Ryobi at all cost!
