Pros: Under $50. 24W total power. Large precise volume knob. Subwoofer output jack. Cons: Kinda big. Shallow (but tight) bass. No seperate tweeter.
I already have a powered subwoofer, and needed just a set of 2-piece stereo speakers to replace my $90 4-year-old Altec Lansings that had a left midrange blown. The older Altec Lansing speakers I had featured seperate 1/2" tweeters which really did...

Solid speakers if you don't need big bass
by millermc ,Nov 01 '03
Pros: Solid sounds, solid quality. Earphone jack in the front Cons: None, but they're not meant for a sound critic
I bought these speakers to use with my new system. The one's that came with the system were sad and probably didn't cost the manufacturer more than a buck. I've got a young son, so I won't be ready for big sound for a few years, don't want the wife yelling at me for waking him up. The main reason I got them was for the solid knobs and the convenient earphone jack in the front. Sound is good, but not very deep. All around a solid set of speakers for someone that wants a bit more than the cheap ones.

Great Speakers for Media Presentations
by dfousek ,Feb 24 '05
Pros: Everything. Price, loudness, volume control. All great. Cons: Haven't found one yet.
I bought the set for my laptop/projector setup for training in our conference center about 3 years ago. I had purchased a set of 900mhz wireless, but fluorescent lights in the room rendered them useless.
I saw this set and purchase them online. WOW. What a great purchase for under $50. Easy to setup. While you can buy smaller speakers, I don't think you can find smaller POWERED speakers. A lot of sound for such a little space.
I'm buying another set today.
