Pros: Relatively inexpensive
4 DDR DIMM slots
Reasonably fast
Onboard sound (a plus for me) Cons: IDE and ATX Power connection layout needs work
No other onboard peripherals
Always stable, mine's been chugging along over a year now. Technology i supposed to work this way - I've got absolutely no complaints. I would recommend this board or its successor, the M7VIF (uses DDR333 instead of DDR266) to anybody.
I may...

Pros: Cost, minimum hassle with install, cost decent features, and cost. Cons: Warranty support arrangement
This is a decent motherboard. I bought it to help rebuild a system that my case's power supply wiped out when it failed (UPS is no help there...). My original setup had a Biostar M7MIA which I'd say is the predecessor to this one (the m7mia had an ISA...

Nice, Reliable Motherboard.
by raptorka ,Nov 14 '08
Pros: 4 DIMM slots AGP port Fast performance Good quantity of PCI slots. Not a lot of problems. Cons: USB 1.0 (You can install USB 2.0's in it, though) Not many cons, a good motherboard
I built a custom a few years ago with this motherboard, maybe in 2003. At first it had Windows 98, I upgraded to XP in no problem, it runs it like a charm, on an AMD Athlon XP 1700+. I have never had any problems with it.

by rccm112_dt3000 ,Sep 25 '02
I get the same errors that AMD users get with VIA chipsets. Blue screens from NVidia video card loops. Blue screens from memory modules. Choppy sound with Sound Blaster Cards. But after a few patches, an added memory module, and new via 4 in 1 drivers everything is normal now except for the sound. I will never buy a Via Chipset Motherboard again until they fix all the bugs.

It is a shame that it had so many hidden bugs, it works fine, but any difference or anything and it goes nuts. It does have it good features, but i forgot them because i had to replace it.

LOUSY MOBO!
by mebrick ,Jan 18 '04
Pros: NOTHING NADA ZIP THAT ABOUT COVERS IT "NOTHING" :-( Cons: LOUSY PERFORMANCE
Been using one for over a year and just couldn't get any performance out of it. BIOSTARS SUPPORT STINKS!.. They told me to install the wrong BIOS > TWICE! < and when sent them email asking if they were 'SURE' it was the correct one did not get a reply. Typical for them. (Don't question their rightusness or they think you're being rude.)
I've bought two.... and only two BIOSTAR motherboards until the day I DIE!!
OH... I have been building systems for fifteen years and it IS THEIR MOBO'S!
M7VIB-A >> Wanna buy a slightly used one CHEAP!!!
