Pros: Cost, refresh rate, built-in power supply, under 40W power consumption Cons: Viewing angle, OSD, ergonomics (940B)
LCD monitors have been dropping in price unlike any other computer component in the last 2 years. At the same time they get bigger and better for less money. What seemed like a pricey proposal in 2004 is now an entry level model. The 19 inch 940B falls ...
Pros: Inexpensive, sharp, clear, GREAT FOR MOVIES! Cons: Not quite wide enough for two documents side-by-side.
I bought this monitor a few months ago for my daughter, who told me that she wanted a wide-screen like the one on the iMac we had at the office. The iMac has a 20" widescreen that is so massive that it gives up nothing in height to a conventional 19" ...
Pros: Price. Both Analog and Digital Connections. Cons: Instructional Manual is horrible and hard to read.
As I write this I am staring at my imperfect LCD purchase as my old CRT looks faded towards the left. I went into Best Buy thinking that buying my first flat screen monitor would be as easy as walking out the door and utilizing Microsoft's plug-and-play ...
Pros: Super brightness, contrast&colors, fast, very black "black",huge desktop,super-cheap,up-down slider Cons: Bad result when connected via Analogue. Horisontal angle view distorts collor temperature after 15 degrees.
When I first purchased the monitor (just the X-mass that is over - 2006), I was angry at my self for buying it so fast.. That morning family decided they'll buy my LCD monitor and I wanted it the same day... Since I have 2 monitors on my desk (doing ...
Pros: superior quality, great price Cons: I can't see any yet!
Well, let me just say that I am so impressed by this monitor. We searched high and low for a good monitor that was not going to be hard on the check book. I found a couple of monitors that had all the same qualities but I went with the Samsung because ...
Pros: Price, value, & quality manufacturer Cons: Not as clear as an Apple Display
After doing much research, I decided to purchase this unit for use with my Apple MacBook. The display isn't as good as the Apple monitor but at 1/3 the cost, it is worth it. I'm currently running the display using the standard VGA inputs, I'm thinking that the DVI-D may provide better picture.
This is a great monitor for web surfing, wordprocessing & spreadsheet applications, and gaming. I'm not sure that I would recommend this monitor for graphic design work. I'm just not to pleased with the color matching on the screen.
UPDATE:
I just purchased the mini DVI to DVI adapter & a DVI cable for this monitor. The picture did improve. I'd recommend that you run this monitor with the DVI-D setup.
great monitor for the price. Not as good as the Apple 20" Cinema display, but that is $700. The diff is mainly on the viewing angle and type detail--impotant if you are a graphic designer. Moving left to right of this monitor you will see color balance shifts--but mostly, your time is spent right in front anyway. Crisp color + contrast + good adjusytments. It comes w dvi and analog cables (not described on box)--so don't let the salesperson sell you one. And where else do you geta 3 yr warranty?
If you have an older pc or mac--make sure the video card supprorts the 1440 x 900 resolution--which is wider that the standard pc displays. Otherwise it will stretch the image wider to fit widescreen.
Pros: beautiful resolution 1400x900 w/4ms refresh rate. Cons: tuner model (940MW) should be considered. Do your homework if you are on a budget.
I've owned this Monitor for a couple of weeks and can say that the 4ms refresh rate (suggest great game and movie viewing monitor) and the 1400x900 resolution is very nice. No dead pixels, adjustable viewing, DVI w/HDCP, 16: 10 wide. I have an old Mac iBook G4 and cannot take advantage of Samsungs Optium Display they call MagicBright.
When I buy an new INTEL Mac in the near future the monitors full features will be available. I also intend to use this as a TV using Egalato or a Slingbox. Why rent Cable or Satellite Tv when broadband is all one needs.
I still wonder if Samsungs 940MW monitor w/a tuner should have been considered.
Pros: Sharp clear picture with a sleek design. It's a great value for the money.now. Cons: So far I have no complaints about the monitor's performance.
I don't normally promote products or stores but I feel that everyone should know about this value. I purchased a Starlogic 19" wide screen monitor from Office Max the other day. It had a number of failing pixels out of the box. I returned it to the store and found that the Samsung was on sale for $179.99 just $30 more then the Starlogic. I figured that for the extra $30 bucks it was worth getting a "name brand". I'm here to tell you that this monitor is a sooooooo much better that I was shocked at the difference. The screen is brighter, sharper and has faster speed. The unit is much better looking (very sleek) and the base is much more secure then the lower priced unit. Bottom line is that if you need a new monitor you need to run not walk to the nearest Office Max and scoop one up. At this price I feel that it's the best value on the market.
I did not realize at first how much more work space I would have with a widescreen and wow was I impressed. I am definitely happy with the monitor, the picture quality. I run a digital mixing software program and my usable workspace increased significantly. I recommend this monitor.
