Pros: easy to use, good design, durable, easy to set up Cons: picks up on the ani-copying in most vhs tapes, not American made

PURCHASED FROM BEST BUY ONLINE
by lancemcgrew ,Dec 29 '07
Pros: VERY GOOD DIRECTIONS AND EASY TO HOOK UP. Cons: CANNOT CORRECT TRACKING ON SEVERAL PURCHASED VHS TAPES.
Wanted a combo unit for space saving reasons. Best Buy online had this unit in stock for local pickup. Price was in the lower range of www.pricegrabber.com. The band name Sony was a trusted name from previous purchases.
Only problem so far is, the VHS tape tracking does not completely correct tracking issues on some store bought tapes. Some of these purchased tapes were new and worked okay in another player we have in the basement. The video image has a wavy distorted ban all the way across the top of screen that extends down about 2-inches. The remote control tracking seems to help but does not completely clear the distortion.
DVD*s homemade and purchased all seem to work without any issues. Some DVD-Combo units only play DVD-R. This unit will play back both DVD-R and DVD R. All the DVD R recorded from our DVR playback flawlessly.
