My husband purchased the Saeco Easy as a birthday gift to me in November 2006. After several delightful months of lovely lattes and black coffee with a nice layer of crema...problems. To make a long story short, we have returned it to Saeco three times to repair the same problem. Today was the third return and it came back from repair not fully reassembled! I don't know why they haven't just sent us a new unit. We've been very patient but after this I don't think I would ever buy another Saeco product. What a shame.

I purchased the Easy at Costco for $399+tax. I brought it home and set it up, and the fault light stayed lit. It ground the beans, but nothing came out. After calling tech support and being pleasantly surprised that they answered in under a minute, the rep recommended I return the unit. So, I picked up another, and wow! This espresso comes out in no time, and is absolutely as good as any coffee bar with a green sign!

Looking forward to many happy mornings with my triple shot espressos!

For the price, nothing compares. After approximately 8 months of use, the system continues to work flawlessly producing great espresso, cappuchino etc. with little effort. The machine is easy to operate and easy to clean.

Pros: Excellent coffee and foam, without a doubt. Easy to operate.
Cons: Needs non-greasy beans. The little red light is very vague as to what needs attention.

Our husband and I have had the Saeco Easy for 1.5 years and we love the coffee it makes and the convenience of it -- it truly is "easy" and no brainer to use. However, it has a little red light that goes on when something needs attention and often it is EXASPERATING to figure out exactly what. My husband sometimes will spend 20 minutes grumbling in the morning trying to figure out if it is the "grinds bin" that needs emptying or water needing refilling, or filter replacing, or the whole grinding unit removed and washed... it's often this "mystery game" that the machine plays with us. Also it doesn't take the greasy (shiny) beans that is common to Starbucks. Imported Italian beans work best.

On the whole, the Saeco Easy has made us long for a more mechanical, simplified machine that is not so "easy" to use, but much easier to maintain and care for over the years. All that fussy electronics without some sort of LED display telling us what to fix on the Saeco Easy leaves us wishing we had something a little more basic and hands-on.

We loved our easy for the first 6 mos of use. Then the unit died!! Saeco service was TERRIBLE. After having our unit for 2 mos they told us it hadn't even been looked at and it would be another 2 weeks before it would be seen. We argued that they said it would be a 72 hour turn around and we went balistic. Needless to say the looked at it and said they fixed it. When we got it back it was filthy like an auto mechanic had worked on it and IT WAS STILL BROKE! After an hour on the phone the lady got it working and again it worked for a month and now it has DIED again! DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT or any Saeco product, unless you want inferior service!
