Pros: Effectively keeps young children away from dangerous household items. Cons: Takes awhile for adults to get used to their sometimes annoying presence.
Since most parents wish to keep their infants and toddlers as safe as possible, especially in the home where most accidents tend to occur, we put away dangerous household items and protect our children from entering forbidden areas of the home by a...
Pros: take a worry off your shoulders; fun to watch baby work it Cons: never 100% trust any babyproofing idea to do all of your supervising
We got several packs of these for all of the kitchen and bathroom and TV/VCR cabinet doors. They are not that hard to install, although you will need a screwdriver (powered, preferably) to attach the parts to the door and the cabinet frame for each door...
Pros: In expensive Cons: directions are not for all drawers and cabinets
We got new kitchen cabinets installed in 2001, I don't know if these latches will work with older cabinets. We re-arranged our kitchen so that we didn't need to lock more cabinets than needed. However we wanted to lock the drawers for two reasons. ...
Pros: Keep drawers from being pulled open by very small children Cons: Can't open a drawer one-handed, easily pinch fingers
One of my son's favorite things to do was to open his dresser drawers and climb in them-causing them to break or leading to him sitting on the top of the dresser. I tried several different types of drawer latches and none worked. I used these for...
Pros: Prevents/delays children from getting into the cabinets. Cons: Installing is time consuming/latches don't work too well.
We bought several sets of latches for our bathroom and kitchen cabinets. We installed them in the cabinet door under the sink first, which took about 20 minutes to do since we had to reinstall it since the first try didn't take. It's hard to get them ...
Pros: none Cons: A pain to install, easy to break, easy for little hands to open.
After spending a lot of time and effort in putting these things on all our cabinets, my son, who was 13 months old at the time, was able to figure them out within 45 minutes.
He would open it up just a bit, squeeze his hand through and pull...
Pros: None Cons: Not Safe For Children - False Sense of Security
They do not work! Our one year old grandson could jerk hard several times and the cabinet door opened right up. This should be unacceptable. It can give parents a false sense of security, thinking their little ones are safely locked out of cabinets ...
Pros: Kept my son out of the medicine draw, cleaning supplies, and bathroom cabinet. Cons: I would forget it was there, was hard to get screwed into door or draw.
I didn't mind buying these due to the fact that my son is very curious. The thing that bugged me wa ...
Child's little fingers can still open!!! by laurobertson ,Dec 03 '04
Pros: Cheap Cons: small fingers fit perfect into openings to push down!!
I used to have these all over my kitchen, until my smart little boy turned 2! It didn't take long for him to figure out that all you have to do is put your little kiddie fingers in through the small opening it leaves when opening the doors and drawers and you push down to open. While our son is very smart, these really are not good for toddlers. They have perfect little fingers for opening them! But the price is very cheap!! But remember that safety is first! It was definitely worth spending the extra money to buy different ones!!!
