Pros: Speed, control, comfort, less fatigue, more fun Cons: Asymmetrical graphic
Recently skied 4 pairs of high-performance demos at Smuggs. Salomon Crossmax 10 were the cream of the crop compared to Dynastar Inuitiv 71, K2 Axis X, and Rossignol Bandit XX('02 model). My friend and I agreed that the Crossmax 10's were faster, more ...

Pros: Carve, carve, and carve some more. Excellent skis for experts and above. Cons: Wash out at high speeds if not on edge. The tails catch in deep moguls.
If you are a hard driving expert (or better) who likes to ski the hard and steep, this ski is for you. I first skied the Salomon Crossmax 10 as a demo in Tahoe about two years ago. Tahoe had knee-deep powder, and the Crossmax performed superbly. It ...

Salomon Crossmax 10 Pilot
by RONinPC - Top 500,Dec 11 '03
Pros: Light and playful, a good all mountain expert ski Cons: It's a bit nervous, especially on corrugated ice (but what isn't).
It's been a while since I have written a review here on epinions... they have not really been keeping up listing the latest skis.
It was important that I write this one though, because it has to do with reviews I have written in the past. I have written about the Salomon X-Scream, and X-Scream Pilot, and I have not been kind.
The other day, I took out the Crossmax 10 Pilot, and was truly pleasantly surprised. It skied great. Gone was the teeter-totter feeling of the older pilot designs. the ski was light and playful, with the same nervous energy that Salomons are known for. While it is not the greatest ski I have ever been on, the Crossmax 10 Pilot is a fine effort on the part of Salomon. I'd ski a pair, and I'd enjoy 'em.
You will too.
For the record, I am 5'10, 200 lbs. I ski about 100 days a year, and am considered a "professional" skier (whatever that means to you).

Quite possibly the best performing and truly ugliest ski ever made
by mattyg587 ,Dec 02 '03
Pros: high speed performance, bumps, responsiveness, ease of turning Cons: ugly! and too expensive!
The title says it all. What an ugly ski, but what a great performer! This ski loves to be skiied hard and fast and is a little upset if you try to ski them all day on intermediate slopes. Head for the black diamonds, hell...even the moguls and pound em hard...or go find a nice long groomer and let em rip. The response of the tails coming out of fast turns with a little weight shift is amazing, and even feels like the ski is springing you up out of the turn and into the next. Alot of fun.

nice light skis, a little twitchy tho
by vtskibum ,Jan 08 '04
Pros: Light, quick turn, manoeuverable Cons: Light, a little squishy
I skied these twice, once at Killington in comparison with K2 Axis XR's which beat them hands down and once alone up at Mt Tremblant in Quebec. Both days were icy (as usual) These are the second best skis I've been on so far, I liked the overall specs and narrow waist which is why I tried them. I'm the type of skiier who could really care less about "off piste" or "all mountain" or whatever. I want something that CUTS through the ice and feels tossable at the same time. This ski did the latter well (it's light as hell) but not the former so well compared to the K2 XR's. I felt they were a little too flexible as well, they felt unhooked a few times and a little too springy. They turn very fast tho and are overally very easy to ski and I kinda LIKE the loud colorful look :) I'm a black diamond skiier, my style is fast and tight.
