Pros: Easy to use, excellent result, inexpensive

The best, no-frills, inexpensive yogurt-making machine!

by reginafug Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jun 07 '08
Pros: Incredibly easy to use. There's no mystery to making yogurt at home!
Cons: None... the model has been brought back by Salton... yay!
Yogurt has been around probably a few thousand years, and depending on the map location, sheep’s and goat’s milk are favored, especially in Mediterranean countries. However, in north-central Europe and the U.S. all yogurts are made from ...

A Review of the Salton Yogurt Maker YM9 (and why you don't need it!)

by freelancer1 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Apr 23 '02
Pros: Fast, easy to use and makes yogurt that's much healthier (and cheaper!) than commercial brands.
Cons: Really just a glamorized pudding bowl.
I bought the Salton Yogurt Maker YM9 about a year ago, and it does exactly what it's meant to. But here's why I don't think you need to buy it...

by knitsnbytes Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jun 08 '04
Pros: Easy to use, make your own yogurt for less, can use goat milk.
Cons: Funny looking spoon, domed lid of inner container takes up a bit of refrigerator space.
This small device is easy to use to make tubs of your own yogurt. Features: Inner container, outer heated incubator. No digital settings, no settings of any kind. You plug it in, the heater goes on. Not even on-off switch. Spoon for scooping yogurt, ...

Yummy Yogurt, and Simple, too!

by mom26 , Jan 02 '09
Pros: Simple, durable, cute
Cons: Slightly awkward container design
After years of trying other yogurt-making methods, I came across the Salton Yogurt Maker YM9 and have never looked back.  I've used it for more than five years and have made gallons and gallons (and gallons) of yogurt with it.Making a quart ...

Yummy yogurt, Easy to Use, Inexpensive product!

by maddisonave , Nov 14 '05
Pros: Great tasting yogurt, I'm in control of the added ingredients; inexpensive product.
Cons: Only makes one quart of yogurt at a time; no automatic timer.
The Salton Yogurt machine is a great little investment for yogurt lovers. I was tired of paying the high price for store-bought yogurt and I don't always like the flavors that I have to choose from. So, one morning about two months ago, I ordered this ...

It's great...I love it!

by elsbed , Jan 08 '04
Pros: Easy to use, easy to clean, inexpensive!
Cons: None.
Perhaps, as another reviewer has stated, you don't really *need* a yogurt maker. You CAN make yogurt using various homemade devices. However, why go to all the bother when you can use this? It's cheap, and easy to use. I used to make my own yogurt using ...

Salton Yogurt Maker YM9 - It's Alive!

by batmanmi , Aug 26 '05
Pros: Simple to use and clean-up after. No dials, just plug, unplug. Good directions and results.
Cons: Doesn't include candy thermometer (just buy one), timer or auto shut off (not a problem)
I got the yogurt maker and made two batches. So far so good. Although, I still want to try it with nonfat milk and for less time to see if I like it. They say that the less fat, the thinner it is and the less time the less tart the yogurt will be. So ...

Nice yogurt maker! Makes a perfect batch of yogurt!

by paulkateandy , Mar 07 '07
Pros: Nice design - makes a nice, creamy yogurt.
Cons: No thermometer included.
I really like this yogurt maker. We had a very old Salton yogurt maker with the individual cups that worked really well for decades, so, we decided to try this one next! We really wanted a yogurt maker that would make a whole batch of yogurt in one ...

Store-quality yogurt at a fraction of the price--Easy, too, for beginners as well

by strawberryrlb , Oct 11 '04
Pros: Very easy to use, inexpensive, and tough, too
Cons: Just a little difficult to clean, but not too bad
I needed to boost my calcium intake, so I bought this machine to eat more yogurt and make yogurt cheese (YoChee) without breaking the grocery budget. This is a very simple machine but will deliver excellent results for the small investment of time ...

Salton Yogurt Maker YM9

by mysore , Nov 16 '07
Pros: Extremely dependable, time saving device.
Cons: Price. List price of $24.99 is too high. Should be about $10-$15.
If you are not into the Yogurt culture (haha), then skip this and just buy yogurt from your supermarket. If you consume a lot of yogurt or want to make yogurt with your own flavors, then you should look into this. If you live in the South or West, ...

Yogurt For All
by pacificthunder ,Feb 09 '05
Pros: Inexpensive, easy clean up (none) and compact.
Cons: None
This is a great product that’s reasonable priced and is for the most part fool proof. You simply simmer 3 ingredients, mix 1/2 a cup of yogurt into it. Just pour the solution into the maker, and plug it in for 4-6 hours and you have 1 quart of home made yogurt. Its that simple. Save you money and buy the Salton Yogurt Maker.

No frills yogurt, not bad for the price.
by doggrrl ,Nov 12 '06
Pros: Cheap and easy to use.
Cons: Storage is a pain with the dome top.
I have the Salton YM9 for over a year now and it's a great no frills buy. You still need a candy thermometer, pan and stove to prep the milk, so don't think this unit is an all in one. That said, it's a simple easy way to make yogurt.

Great little yogurt maker
by smebybj ,Apr 13 '07
Pros: Super easy, almost no fail
Cons: Needs a timer and buzzer
So my boyfriend bought this for me last valentines day when I found out I had celiac disease and would have to start making my own yogurt. I had never made yogurt before but every batch came out perfect. The longer I kept it in the maker the tangier the yogurt became. I bought the yogurt cheese maker and have used it to make homemade fat free cream cheese. I really like this thing. I don't find it difficult to clean as another review mentioned. I mean it is only a single container... anyhow... made perfect yogurt every time.
