Samsung Impressive Performance: compare Samsung LCD vs Samsung CRT

by c-post , Apr 17 '07
Pros: Bright! Opens up endless desk space! Huge screen size!
Cons: More aliasing than CRT; harsher digital look; only one rez setting works well
The quality and fine pitch of Samsung monitors have long impressed me, even back when a Samsung 17" CRT was a fancy and expensive monitor to have. The 225BW black LCD is my first experience with LCD monitors. I don't even own a laptop. I do all my work ...

Ah! Enjoy the Wide Open Space of Your New Desktop

by mkuehn , Jan 24 '07
Pros: Excellent picture, sharp image, large desktop area. No extra features you don't need. Reasonable price.
Cons: Some backlight bleed at top and bottom.
It was finally time to upgrade my 17" Apple monitor I bought back in college in 1996. Yes, 11 years ago. So this past weekend, after much research, and thanks to a $30 coupon, I decided to go out and pick up this new flat-screen LCD display. I didn't ...

Big wide screen with great image that wont take much space on you desk

by sylvainm , Jan 04 '07
Pros: Big wide screen with small desk footprint, neat design, great image, digital and analog inputs
Cons: Cables are difficult to plug. Software provided do not seem very useful
The context I waited a long time before changing my old, but wonderful, 19 inches CRT monitor, a Samsung SyncMaster 900p. I wanted to change it for the sole reason that it is really big and takes too much space on my desk. I have a small home ...

Almost perfect

by curley_joe , Dec 19 '06
Pros: Great picture
Cons: Too many confusing color controls!
I bought this monitor at CompUSA. It's almost perfect, but I have three gripes about it: 1. The stand on my monitor isn't quite straight, making the monitor unlevel. That is, it's rotated slightly counter-clockwise. I couldn't see any way to adjust ...

Very disappointed in poor type quality and color accuracy

by letterwoman , May 19 '07
Pros: Good warranty; nice height adjustment
Cons: Type quality looks bad and color is not accurate
I got this monitor at CompUSA as a demo model because it was the very last one they had and I got a good deal on it. It was pretty easy to hook up, although there wasn't a manual included. The brief instructions (if you can even call it that) that came ...

Well worth it, in spite of horrible backlight bleedthrough

by milkydoo , Jul 20 '07
Pros: Great view, color quality, small frame.
Cons: Bad backlight bleed-through. Plugging in cables can be hard.
I bought this about 10 months ago (Fall 2006) and am just now getting around to the review. Before I bought it at OfficeMax for $400, I read reviews online about this model which warned of the backlight bleed-through. I decided that I would risk it ...

Samsung SyncMaster 225bw
by krystlc ,Dec 05 '06
Pros: Bright, crisp text, good image quality and responsive.
Cons: Remember it's a widescreen! Messure you're space.
Awesome product. I'm 100% satisfied with Samsung. The korean manufacturer has broken its reputation for being cheap. This monitor suits all my needs. It connects digitally (DVI) and analog (RBG).
The text reads superb and the images are crisp. Visual performance deserves an A+. I would never chose another monitor for this.
I bought it to work with a new HP Media Center with TV-out, so I'll be using both digital and analog signals with the touch of a button!
The recommended resolution is 1680 x 1050 which makes me very :)

Nice all-round LCD display with great warranty
by u4instance ,Dec 07 '06
Pros: 3 year on parts, labor and warranty
Cons: Does not prevent the usual id10ts from touching the screen. ;)
I bought this monitor at the Comp-USA Thanksgiving sale and have been extremely pleased with it's performance and great digital-image quality. I am an all-round PC user, use PCs for work and leisure. I was actually amazed by the ability of this monitor to display very small fonts unlike the NEC LCD I use at work. I play Everquest II online and the gaming experience is even better than on my 21" Syncmaster 1100DF, which still is a great CRT monitor that sells for around $450. Have not detected any lacks. The edges are very thin, buttons are clearly marked and conveniently located yet small enough to maintain a sleek design. The monitor seems to perform great when playing DVDs. Settings can be adjusted with the buttons on the bezel as well as with the software that comes with the display.

Great Monitor
by niagarabeech ,Jan 21 '07
Pros: Good resolution with at least a 256mb video card.
Cons: Base looks cheap.
I bought this to replace a top-of-the-line Dell digital 19" LCD monitor. It had a GREAT picture!
Bought this Samsung monitor at Future Shop for $399.
It has a unbelievable great picture.
As good as the Dell in quality.
PS - Dell has a much better BASE!!

Nice monitor for the money!
by drivera ,Mar 24 '07
Pros: Bright, crisp and big!
Cons: limited connectivity... no RCA inputs.
I found a really good deal from slickdeals.net on this monitor, and I have to say I have no regrets in buying this 22" 'economical' monitor!
I've been looking for a large LCD screen for a while, but the prices of good 22" monitors were pretty steep, until I came across this one.
The monitor itself is bright, crisp, clear and the option to set it to 1680 by 1050 is (and looks) fantastic! I'm also a gamer, and so far the
games I have played (Prey, RTCW, Half Life 2, Splinter Cell... etc.), all look great! I did notice the "backlight bleeding" (which everyone
feels compelled to mention), but that's only when booting up or in something that requires DOS mode, basically... it really doesn't bother
me at all. The bottom line is, if you can get this for under $300 (including taxes/shipping), then buy it!! it's well worth it!

Good widescreen display
by jhnrk ,Mar 25 '07
Pros: Performing well within its price range. Good warranty.
Cons: Minor light leaks (top & bottom) Vertical viewing angles could be better.
SyncMaster 225BW is really good Widescreen format display. 1680x1050 resolution gives new space to desktop, and helps when doing graphic, cad or 3D-editing.
This screen also has good 5ms response time and great contrast ratio. So still to motion pictures are looking good.
The slim frame doesn't draw your attention too much and controls work out pretty well.
Display supports HDCP, so it should work with modern consoles with proper cables.
Adjustable monitor stand is really good feature for taller people, that doesn't come with many 22" LCD monitors.
