Pros: Price, picture and sound quality, features, connectivity, MP3, CD-R/W playback Cons: Remote controls could be better designed, scan speeds, slow operation
The Samsung DVD-P421 is among the cheapest DVD players with progressive scan at less than $130 (current retail price). And it doesnt mean that the player compromises on the connections or features.
Pros: 3:2 pulldown Progressive Scan. Easy to setup. Intuitive menus. MP3 playback. Cons: Universal remote isn't very "universal" (but who cares - get the MX-500)
After experiencing problems with my first DVD player (a Sony DVP-S560D), and discovering that hundreds of others on various newsgroups and review sites were having the same problems, I decided to go on a hunt for a new DVD player. I wanted to go with a...
Pros: Great disc/format compatibility, progressive scan, two remotes, Headphone output Cons: Remote layout is confusing
This is my third Samsung DVD player. I also own the S221 and the V1000 VCR/DVD combo. The reason I've chosen this brand is because I've tested numerous other brands and found that most won't play one format or another. The Samsung has no problem...
Pros: Flicker free progressive scan, stylish case, features, compatibility, and quality Cons: none! other than it does not play DVD-ram
I have always been a fan of Samsung consumer electronics. After purchasing this unit and trying several others, Samsung lives up to their name! I have recently purchased a Toshiba 34HD82 34inch color high definition television, so I needed a progressive...
Pros: Good picture and sound quality. Looks good on shelf. Cons: Slow scan speed, cheap remotes with poor controls and poor response.
The Samsung DVD P421 looks great on the shelf. It's a handsome unit but, as with most things in life, looks can be deceiving. I bought mine on sale at Best Buy to replace a two-year-old Toshiba 1700, which lacked progressive scan and an optical audio...
Pros: Small size, Progressive output and Component video support, TOSLink and Coax digital out. Cons: No on-board 5.1 channel decoding, false advertising all over the box, poorly-written user manual.
The P421 DVD player from Samsung offers what appear to be several outstanding features from Samsung's point of view, but the consumer should be aware that you may not be getting what you expect or what you paid for.
Pros: Sears had the best price for a Progressive DVD player, what's not to like. Cons: NONE. If you want full function remote get one for all your components.
Good system, looks great with other pieces. Progressive Scan is the ONLY thing to buy. Go to Sears or Best Buy and get the great credit terms. If you spend a DOLLAR over $90 for this system you paid to much, shop around. If you need a 5 disk player, go...
Pros: Probably OK if you know how to be a "Digital" user. Cons: I don't know how to use it.
I bought this unit a year ago, and have yet to be able to get anything other than "No disc" on the message screen. Maybe it's because my TV has a built in VCR???
Its a steal. This has... by netman_dt3000 ,Dec 29 '02
Its a steal. This has every feature I was looking for including progressive scan and is only $125. This plays dirtiest rental discs which my Sony player refuse to load and also it never skipped any of the scenes another thing my Sony use to do all the time. In my personal experience, this is a wonderful player which saved me atleast $55
