Pros: Double duty, saves space, ability to place TV on top. Cons: A little noisy, but not noticeable. A little slow, but works well.
My son had a VCR (old one) and a DVD (new, but very basic one) in his room. Kids rooms, as most parents know, are screaming for more space, so anything we can do to eliminate extra items is welcome. The DVD/VCR combo units offer us a chance to get ...
Pros: good quality, compact, easy to hook up Cons: none
A very nice combo deck that provides both a DVD and a VCR in the same unit. Advanced features, very easy to install, I would highly recomend this unit to someone needing to replace a VCR and wanting a DVD player. I had the unit installed in less than a...
Pros: Attractive unit, beautiful DVD playback, nice DVD options, ease of "2 in 1" system Cons: VCR makes loud hum when playing or recording a tape
I got this player for Christmas of 2002 and haven't had it long enough to write a review addressing how it performs over time. I REALLY like this player and cite only one major drawback so far- the humming noise that the VCR makes when playing or...
Pros: DVD and VCR together at last - Able to complete two tasks at once Cons: Lack of Progressive Scan Ability
Samsung, well known for quality products in more markets than are known, has stepped up to the new trends of two-fers. Now, they have two products out on the market that offer two items within one unit, and DVD unit and a HiFi VCR unit. These...
Pros: Affordable.
Easy to setup.
Fairly easy to navigate.
Lots of niceties Cons: Awkward remote layout and function (shuttle specifically)
Can be noisy.
I read several reviews before unpacking this unit (purchased at Target), seeing how they were favorable for the most part. I've only had it out of the box for an hour, and I will agree with other reviewers that the unit is very easy to setup, the remote...
Pros: $150 in Dec-02 = a good deal for a moderately priced combo DVD-VCR box Cons: Remote is not easy to use and box is slow to load DVDs
At $150 as of Dec-02 (BestBuy), this combo DVD-VCR is a moderately priced product suitable for consumers who (a) want to reduce the number of boxes they have to hook up to their TV, and (b) aren't interested in high end home theater systems.

Good, reliable combo player at a great price by v908 ,Apr 28 '05
Pros: Easy to setup and use, reliable, great price for the combined features. Cons: Remote takes some getting used to.
Frankly, I liked my original Samsung DVD-V1000 so much that when a different VCR died and I wanted another combo player, the DVD-V2000 was an obvious top choice. It's basically the same unit as the DVD-V1000, but with improvements (such as more features available on the remote, better controls on the unit itself, fixed the automatic time function, etc.). When you first start using the player the buttons on the remote seem small and hard to differentiate without looking at it. Over time, however, you easily learn to navigate like with any other remote (the lettering wears off after a lot of use though).
I really like combining VCR and DVD player into one unit (saves space, makes hook-ups easier, one remote) and the quality of playback on both the VCR and DVD has been very good. I used to consider Samsung to be a second tier manufacturer (compared to Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, etc.), but my experience with their combo units has caused me to reconsider them as strong contenders in the electronics industry.
First DVD player I've owned.... by jdr8987_dt3000 ,Mar 16 '03
First DVD player I've owned. Has been working just fine, no problems. Having the DVD/VCR combo allows us to keep using our VHS tapes, while we upgrade our library to DVD at our own (affordable) pace.
I think anyone whos looking for a in home dvd player, that this is the one! The prices are great and the sound, images, and avalability is amaxing! It's great for eveyday use, and it looks great!
