Samsung DVD-V8500 DVD Player / VCR Combo

Pros: 3-D LIKE DVD PICTURE QUALITY. EXCEPTIONAL SOUNDing DVD AND VCR. AUTO DVD/VCR SWITHCING.
Cons: QUICK SET-UP GUIDE MIGHT CONFUSE THOSE UNFAMILIAR TO HOME THEATER HOOK-UPS.

Pros: This is not the only choice out there. The $20 ones at Walmart are better.

I believe every negative review written about this player.
Same exact problem with the DVD not playing, so for the person who wrote "don't believe.." I'll gladly trade mine with yours...hey, they're both the same model! Then again probably yours you junked by now.

Pros: Inexpensive, good VCR unit
Cons: Very poor DVD player, difficult to program into remote.

I have had better experiences with electronics. This DVD/VCR combo is a better VCR player than a DVD player. With DVD's. it has a tendency to be very jerky and inconsistent. It pauses by itself for no apparent reason.
It also not easy to program into a universal remote.

I wanted a combo unit because I have an extensive VHS collection that I wanted to keep but I alsowanted to be able to rent or buy DVD's. It is all right as a VCR but I do not recommend it as a DVD player.

Pros: It had the appearance of a nice combo of VCR/DVD/JPEG player.
Cons: It doesn't actually work. Seems like a major con in my book!

Boy am I mad! I bought this today and went to set it up... the VCR player worked fine, but the DVD drawer refused to open. I tried using both the remote and the button on the unit itself- multiple times!
I would definitely avoid this product!
