Pros: Can (mostly) play audio and video. Cons: Unreliable drive (be sure to buy extended warranty), intermittent audio.
I bought this at BestBuy about 14 months ago after researching dvd recorders for reliability; none were good, but this was the best reported. I also bought an extended warranty, which I used after about 10 months when the video started stuttering and ...

The Right Stuff and the Big Wrong with Samsung DVD VR375
by mg2018 ,Feb 21 '09
Pros: EZ to setup Accepts all Blank Media except DVD-RW Cons: No Built in Fan to cool the unit off No synch between VHS and DVD recordings
What a great product at first glance, and when you first hook up the unit. But quickly you learn that there are some glaring problems, which is really disappointing. Samsung fails to place fans in their DVD recorders which only will shorten the life of your recorder and cause melt downs and serious errors when recording. Secondly , the most disappointing factor is the Dubbing ...well, there is a serious delay with VHS to DVD voice synch. So this is a no go for recommendation. Its too bad, because there is a lot right with the unit. It has simple setup , EZ to connect, but the above issues have this unit a 1 star rating.

Pros: Simple to use. Cons: Didn't get a full year out of it.
bought as a replacement of a previous fail Phillips and Wal Mart brand units. Now this 3rd unit from Samsung failed with less than 1 yr under its belt. I used it to copy my NFL team each week. ONLY that. So, including playoffs/SB win, what, 20 discs? All units protected electrically via UPS power supply. All else on ups is fine, so it isn't electrical problem. I'm not sure what the problem is other than my tv screen is scrambled when running through this samsung. If I disconnect and use only the directv box/tv, all is clear. Not tv/box. It is the Samsung. Believe strongly failure from heat. There is no cooling fan inside, + it sits by itself on counter, so not surrounded by other hot electronic devices. When 1st turned on, I get about 5 minutes of clear view, then the screen scrambles. I have an electronic/electrical background, so this seems a good indication that when cool, ok, heats up fast and fails. I NEVER used the VCR section.

VERY disapointed!!!
by almike ,Apr 18 '09
Pros: nice looking, price was fair Cons: dropouts, runs hot, not compatible with other players, remote is a joke
had high hopes for this component. could not be more unhappy with it. have had great samsung products in the past, but this one has me wondering. numerous dropouts during playback, machine gets very warm, the discs recorded will not play in other players-even finalized. tried to like this player, think its one of the better looking ones. it will be going back to the store, im afraid. oh, yeah, almost forgot the remote is the most complicated, ridiculous, slowest responding remote i have ever had for any device. Generally like Samsung products, but strongly recommend against this unit. DVD-VR375.
