Pros: Sharp, clear picture. Sleek, stylish design Cons: Unreliable. Quality does not match the price tag.
We bought our Samsung HP-R4252 two and one half years ago. We loved it. The picture quality was great! Last week, the TV went black and there was an electrical burning odor coming from the back of the TV. Of course, our warranty had expired. Contacted ...

Picture goes out
by daytona675 ,Feb 07 '08
Pros: Great picture Cons: Short on quality
I have had this television for 2 years. It has a great picture when it works. It is a bit of an old console television now. You can get the picture to come back if you hit the back of the television. It is annoying while trying to watch a movie and beat on it every once in a while. Repair guy said $500 plus, but could easily cost more. It still works, but will be retiring in the bedroom now. I paid around $2500 for this television and now have to replace it after only 2 years. Samsung now joins Magnavox, Phillips, and LG of brands that I will not purchase in the future. I upgraded to an Aquos 46" LCD for $1500. It just seems a little bit too often to be replacing televisions every couple years.

Do Not Buy
by lindamog ,Aug 19 '08
Pros: Nice picture when it worked. Cons: Very expensive to replace a plasma every two to three years
I have had my HP-R4252 for two and 1/2 years. The picture started to black out half of the screen and now I have red lines throughout the screen. The tv tech said the plasma screen is the problem and not worth fixing. I will never buy another Samsung product.

Samsung HP-R4252
by klkrlk ,Nov 30 '05
Pros: Clear picture while viewing HDTV channels Cons: Poor customer service and a terrible picture while view "normal" TV channels
I would not recommend this TV to anyone. After only 2 months of use the picture went dead. Circuit City would not take it back and Samsung sent out a repair tech 3 times, over a 4 week period, and could not repair it. Samsung will not refund my money, only offering to replace my TV with a new model. In addition, when the TV was working, the picture, when viewing normal cable TV channels (not HDTV) was terrible...read the Consumer Reports article on Plasma TVs in the Nov 2005 issue. Do not buy this TV!

Think Twice on Buying This TV
by adventurechix ,Nov 15 '07
Pros: Good picture and features. Cons: TV died after 19 months.
We purchased this TV in March 2006 for $2,250. Luckily we also bought the extended warranty for $450 because in October 2007 the TV died, no sound and no picture. The repairs are too costly to make so we are being given another similar Samsung. Before the TV died we did like it though. Although we couldn't tell the difference between regular TV and HDTV channels. We have DISH Network and ended up dropping the HDTV channels since we could see a difference.

I love my Samsung Plasma! It is a great product! Did my homework!
by venusman ,Jul 17 '06
Pros: Wall mounted the Plasma looks great! True color! Great neon blue light when off! Cons: none!
I had no problems with my Samsung. Bought it form Sears and had them set it up. Great service, great Plasma! Love the color! Don't go to movies that much anymore. Prefer to watch at home! Samsung makes a great product! If I had it to do over again I would buy another Samsung plasma

Samsung HP-R4252 - One Year Later
by pschreiner ,Sep 07 '06
Pros: Excellent picture quality, super bright display. Pixel-shift for burn in resistance. Thin profile. Cons: The unit does give off a moderate amount of heat. Only one HDMI input.
I bought this TV back in November of 05'. Almost one year later, I am still extremely pleased with the image quality. I have not had any problems with the TV, no issues of burn in or color fading. Colors are vivid, sharp, and clear. I would definitely buy a Samsung plasma TV again.

HPR4252
by z1z1z1 ,Oct 24 '06
Pros: great picture if you only like to watch bright scenes Cons: Samsung not wanting to do anything or admit to the problem. Terrible in dark scenes.
Issue with redish/pinks being thrown in the back ground. THX optimizer really showed how bad it was. No one at samsung wanted to follow up with the issue. Tried 3 other of same sets. Same issue.

Samsung HP-R4252 is a lemon, only 2 1/2 years service for a $2000 unit.
by koondog106 ,Oct 26 '09
Pros: None what so ever from me, do not buy a Samsung Television. Cons: I have old dial televisions that worked better and longer then this technological blunder.
I like many others purchased my Samsung HP-R4252 Plasma Television based on professional reviews. It rated well 2 1/2 years ago and I also purchased based on the Samsung name. Well, I regret ever buying this TV now as it has completely gone out and a minimum repair bill is around $1000. A television should last for more than 2 1/2 years especially one of this technology. New sets now are even more advanced and make fixing this unit worthless by comparision. I will never buy another Samsung product again!
