Samsung HP-S5053 50 in. HDTV TV

Pros: The looks, HD picture
Cons: If I had to pick one...analog picture

I have owned this TV for about 2 1/2 months. HD channels look amazing on it. It does very good with analog channels but not great. This is pretty much expected with most plasmas these days though since they are made for HD and the analog tuners are not that good.

The looks of the TV is one of the best out there, Pioneer is probably the only one that is similar in looks.

One tip, use HDMI or DVI/HDMI hookups if possible. The component cables will give you grey bars on non-HD programming. Found out that these went away when using one of the digital hookups. The grey isn't bad but harder to get used to.

Speakers were decent when I used them. I now have it hooked up to a surround sound so I can't say much more about them.

I am not disappointed with this TV. I had a hard time choosing between this and the Panasonic but like the picture and overall looks better on this one

Cons: Needed some tweaking out of the box for a better picture

We bought this HDTV a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. Out of the box I found I needed to tweak the settings a bit...set the contrast between 30 and 40 and the brightness around 65 and it looks great. I work in television so I may be more critical than some.

In SD it looks as good as any other plasma, with the HD channels...it's a whole new world. The display is crisp and bright. While watching "Journey into Amazing Caves" (an IMAX film on InHD) I actual felt like I was moving along with the camera. The previous reviewer mentioned she didn't have HD channels yet...you'll be amazed when you finally do. DiscoverHD and InHD are our favorite channels now.

Highly recommend!

Pros: Great picture quality and stylish look.
Cons: make sure your room is big enough for the tv it can dominate the room.

I purchased my samsung tv 6 months ago and so far is good. Picture quality is fantastic. I have not had any problems with the tv. I paid 2800.00 at best buy. you can probably get a better price now. I would highly recommend this television for a media room or family room. i probably will not use it for video games you may get burn on the screen.

Pros: Great picture, very clean.
Cons: Chunky when the screen is black, not often, between commercials a few seconds between scenes.

We have had this TV for about a month now. I will be sure to come back with any changes in this review. I enjoy the TV, and have had no problems with it. We have it mounted on the wall in our living room. The picture is great. If you sit too close it can get a little fuzzy. By too close I mean right on top of it. If I am sitting off to the side a bit, I can see the picture perfectly. We mounted it ourselves, although the salesperson tried to get us to pay someone to come in. My other half is pretty good with this stuff and did it with ease. No TV technician, just common sense. (sometimes... : P )
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It looks great and has a great picture. We do not have HDTV yet, so I imagine that will make this pretty darn close to perfect.
