Pros: Compact size; sleek appearance; unobtrusive; good surround sound. Cons: Used less than 30 hours, it is powering off and displaying the dreaded "Protection" message.
We bought our Samsung HT-DB600 Theatre System because it is a Samsung product. We own three Samsung DLP TVs and love them all - fantastic displays and no problems. We also liked the DB600 Theatre System's compact size, low profile and sleek ...

Got it cheap on Ebay, works flawlessly, very cool.

Pros: Great sound & design, cool remote, plays MP3s, 5-DVD changer, DTS digital input, CHEAP! Cons: None, really... maybe that it doesn't play DivX format movies, but few do.
This was a total steal. I paid around $140 on Ebay to get this, and it's been my 5.1 surround sound & computer gaming system ever since. The sound is good, it has a optical input that will receive dolby digital or DTS, and it has a cool remote and a 5-disc carousel. Actually, I once saw a newer version in Best Buy, and didn't like it as much - the newer version had the front panel unhinge to reveal the tray and that looked much less sturdy. With this one, I like the sound, the looks, the cool remote, and unlike my LCD monitors or digital cameras, I don't think I'll upgrade it anytime soon. Considering I only paid $140, I laugh every time I see basically the same thing being offered for $599.. :) Note, this is still better than some of the very rock bottom systems you can get, for example, all the sattelite speakers on this system are heavy for their small size, 2-way, and have a metal grid.

Manufacturing Defects! Don't purchase this system!
by helloball ,Jul 13 '05
Pros: Looks pretty.
Cons: Customer service stinks, unit is defective, should be recalled. Don't buy it!
I've read reviews on the internet, AFTER I bought it, of course. I was searching for something to tell me what to do about the problem I am having with it.
You'll see many people saying it comes up with a "PROTECTION" error. Well, guess what, mine is doing that and they want $150 to fix it! I only spent $250 on the whole thing. It's a shame.
Best part; based on the serial number they tell me it's no longer under warranty. It's only nine (9) months old, bought from Costco. I guess they buy old stuff and that's why you don't get a warranty. If it weren't such a sham it would be funny.
Who's going to pay that? Obviously, they hope you'll purchase a new one. Not a chance. Not from Samsung. Never again.
P.S. - Customer Service stinks. They have a very polite way of treating you like an idiot and asking several times for the same information. The girl I talked to was a real jerk.
