Pros: full QWERTY keyboard; tip calculator; world clock; alarm clock; small size Cons: battery life; phone gets hot easily & quickly
Now that I've had this phone for a few months now I can actually write a review on it. As a previous user of only Nokia and Motorola phones, I've recently given in to buying Samsung. Screen The screen size on this phone is pretty good ...
Pros: Flip Design, QWERTY keyboard, sound quality, MP3 Player capability Cons: Flimsy MicroSD cover, Spring loaded SD drive, mobile web on phone unimpressive
I've had Verizon Wireless for over two years now. When it came time to renew my contract in November, they also offered me $100 credit towards a phone with the New Every Two program. When I first saw the SCH-u740, I liked the fact that had a flip design, ...
Pros: Dual hinge, Full QWERTY keyboard, Mp3 player Cons: Uses a different type of headset jack
The Samsung U740 (aka Samsung Alias) replaced my absolute wonderful Samsung T300. I am still a bit sad about replacing it. Sure the phone was about 7 years old, but it still was a bit before I was ready. Don't worry though, the Samsung U740 will still ...
Pros: Sleek, good looking, durable, full of functions that teenagers demand Cons: Haven't found any beyond the cost of all the text messages
When the daughter turned 13, I offered to get her a mobile phone. My plan was of course to get her a basic (cheap) phone she could use to call home or use in an emergency - you know, the free phones they give you when you sign up for a new line of ...
Pros: design, functionality, QWERTY keypad, signal reception, two colors to choose from Cons: nothing!
I bought this phone in the summer of 2007 under a promotion at Verizon. I bought it because I'm a serial texter, and the QWERTY keypad really appealed to me. I also liked how it had the hinged design that allows you to flip it vertically (to talk) and ...
Pros: Good battery life, perfect for texting with QWERTY keyboard, sleek, design. Cons: Slightly flimsy, can only hold 50 text messages at once, small buttons.
The Samsung SCH-u740 is the perfect teenager phone. It's perfect for texting, but if your primary use is going to be for business, don't bother picking up this phone. The battery life is great however, the phone can only hold 50 text messages at once and ...
Pros: two-way flip design, QWERTY keyboard, 1.3 megapixel camera, low SAR Cons: smallish keys, awkward number typing in landscape mode, max volume a little low
After over four years of using the same cell phone, I finally got around to upgrading in May of 2008. With the recent concern over cell phone radiation, I decided to play it safe and try to find a phone with a lower radiation emission. Emissions are ...
Pros: Two-way opening, lots of features. Cons: Hinge opening/closing may wear, charger/SD slot covers flimsy.
I upgraded to Verizon Wireless from Nextel about eighteen months ago. While the Verizon store I went to only had a limited selection of phones at the time, I more or less chose the Samsung Alias at random. I must say it was an excellent choice which has ...
Pros: QWERTY keyboard
Compact size
good reception and battery life Cons: small screen
small keys
I bought this phone last year because I liked the dual fold design and the QWERTY keyboard. I use email a lot, and the keypad is much easier to use than a standard phone keypad. As a phone, it has a good battery life, and strong range. I can't ...
Pros: Ability to switch to QWERTY mode and back to flip-phone mode. Cons: The keys on the keyboard are rather small, but necessary for the purpose
I've had this phone since it first came out, and I still love it! Up until Samsung introduced this brilliant design, all I used was Motorola phones. As a text addict, it was impossible to resist the ability to switch to the QWERTY keyboard AND switch back to a regular comfortable flip phone mode (unlike the Sidekick-style phones where it looks like you're holding up an entire laptop PC up to your ear). This is a truly revolutionary phone, with some slight snags. This phone has some music player abilities too, but I've never used them. I use the phone simply for communication. The reception is decent, and the volume of the earpiece, speaker, and ringer are all pretty good. There are a couple flaws in the software, which make it annoying every once in a while (like to text quotation marks or parentheses, you have to move to another page on the screen). Still, no biggie. The adapter is one of the better ones I've used (thank God they stopped using those flimsy adapters with the pins!).
Pros: Size, convenient speaker location, awesome keyboard, great reception, loud speaker, attractive. Cons: Battery life, camera, web browsing
I have to say that I have returned 3 phones already to Verizon because they don't measure up to my Samsung U-740. The dare, the voyager and the Env pale in comparison to this wonderful phone. Why Samsung didn't come out with an upgrade to this phone with the same keyboard is beyond me. Instead they came out with the Glyde and from what I hear, that's not a winner. This phone has an awesome keyboard to text a terrific speaker which is conveniently accessible by pressing a side button on the phone - not like the others where you actually have to flip open to the keyboard (how dumb is that); great reception all in an attractive light and compact phone which fits nicely on the ear. I LOVE this phone. It's the best I've ever had. I dont do the music or the downloads too much and the web browsing isn't the greatest on this phone but for me that's fine. I'm not into that anyway. The camera stinks but it's only a 1.3 so that's expected and it does take video clips too.
Nice phone with great text capability by cdale17 ,Dec 12 '08
Pros: Double flip design (cool!). QWERTY keyboard, fully functioned Cons: Top screen broken updon direct impact...
High quality double flip phone that is definitely a contender. This cell-phone offers the folloowing features: - Blue-tooth - QWERTY keyboard - Voice acivated dialing I purchased this Verizon cell phone about a year ago and it has been an excellent phone/value. The QWERTY keyboard is AWESOME for text messages and the double-flip design is very nice. I have repeatedly heard that I must have a "Razor" phone and then that I have the multi-flip phone from friends and co-workers. This phone offers the thin profile with additional features that still seperate it from the competition! I have not used it extensively for the web applications, but due to the small screen text I don't anticipate that it is a GREAT mobile web phone. However, it woks very well for phone and txt applications. I did fracture the front screen when it experienced a direct impact, but overall it has been a great ohone.
Pros: EASY TEXTING!!! Cons: SHORT BATTERY LIFE, POWERS OFF WHILE RECEIVING TEXT MSGS
I LOVE THE TEXTING CAPABILITIES AND VOICE TEXT, ETC. IMPRESSED WITH MUSIC PLAYER AS WELL. I HAD MY FIRST ONE REPLACED DUE TO BEING LAUNCHED IN TO FLOOD WATERS BY MY EX. LOVELY. INS REPLACED IT QUICKLY. 2ND ONE REPLACED VIA WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WOULD FREEZE UP OR POWER OFF AND ON WHILE RECEIVING TEXTS. MY MOM SAID I TEXTED WAY TO MUCH AND SENT IT IN TO SHOCK. THE LADY AT VERIZON SAID SHE'S HAD THAT ISSUE COME IN A FEW TIMES WITH THIS PHONE. UNFORTUNATELY, I DROPPED IT IN MILK AND VOIDED THE NEW WARRANTY. I WAS GOING TO TURN IT IN AGAIN FOR A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PHONE BEFORE THE MILK INCIDENT. THAT WAS 2 MONTHS AGO AND THE EFFECTS ARE JUST NOW TAKING PLACE OF THE MILK RENDEVOUS. IT'S SPAZZING OUT. I HAVE TO NOW FILE YET ANOTHER INS CLAIM BUT BEFORE THEN, I'D RATHER HAVE A DIFFERENT PHONE. IT ISN'T WORTH MY $50 DEDUCTABLE.
The Samsung SCH-u740 earned the moniker, The Alias for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the dual-hinge design allows you to open the phone to standard, ...More at eBay
