This is my second Samsung Hi-8 Camcorder. I purchased this one on Ebay as an open box item. Camcorder arrived in perfect shape and works like a dream. Black and White viewfinder, special effects, has two settings for operation.
EASY button for beginners (does all the settings for you)
and Advanced setting which allows user to tailor lens settings, white balance, etc. Overall you can't go wrong with this camcorder. Tapes are cheap, recording/playback quality is great. Even after transferring from Hi 8 to VHS the picture is still good. Get one if you can and if not look into other Samsung Camcorders. Great product.
By the way Samsung makes camcorders for Canon as well.
My other Samsung has all the same features plus a flip out screen. I actually prefer the viewfinder. The color flip out screen uses too much power.

the camcorder is excellent. the only problem is the date will change if the camera is left out in the cold. when zooming the optical magnification is what is important. buy the extended life battery.
