Pros: Supports every possible input, beautiful picture, excellent audio Cons: Doesn't provide as great a picture in standard definition, confusing separation of inputs
Nevermind all the talk of the end of standard television in the next few years as analog signals cease in lieu of digital goodness; if you're a gamer chances are the high-definition era looms much larger as the next generation of gaming begins, led by ...
Pros: Features/price; relative weight; Better looking design than Sony Cons: Reliability; Picture not quite as good as Sony; Can't turn off unnecessary sources
UPDATE: 20 OCT 06 - Sadly I must knock down the reliability for this unit as it would no longer turn on. Unfortunately this is two months after the warranty expired. In home repair is quite expensive, and lugging this heavy thing to the shop is a big ...
Pros: Excellent picture on both NTSC and HDTV. Cons: Confusing selecting video inputs. Unused ones cannot be disabled.
It was time to buy a new TV, but the new one had to be HDTV compatible. So, after looking around stores at LCD and plasma models and asking for demos in both HDTV and NTSC, I decided that a CRT set would give the best picture when operating in both ...
Pros: Attractive design, small "footprint." Cons: Defective. Expensive to repair. Poor customer service.
I have owned this TV for less than 2 years, and it has completely stopped working. TWICE. The first time it died, we had to pay over $400 to have it repaired. That was about 6 months ago. The TV has once again stopped operating. The unit has never ...
Pros: small footprint Cons: poor color quality unreliable heavy
I bought this TV at Best Buy a little over three years ago. I chose it over LCD and plasmas since the combined factors of: picture quality; price; and reliability of a CRT were still superior to the other formats at that ...
Pros: Excellent picture quality, bang for the buck. Depth is only ~13 inches. Cons: "Magnet Spots" on 2 different sets.
I'll try and keep this quick, as the previous review already covers most of the TV's good and bad. My experience with this tv was extremely negative. I bought the set on a Saturday night from Best Buy for $850. Get the TV home, plug my Comcast HD ...
Pros: Very nice video, tons of inputs, ease of connection to various devices. Cons: Trouble connecting to my PC through DV-I, could only get Component to work.
I can't add much to the two reviews that are already here, but I want to add one additional fact in regards to gaming. As a test for this TV I ran "James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing" for XBOX through component connectors, and once I got to the main ...
Pros: Crisp clear images typical of a CRT Cons: Weak internal HDTV tuner
All external sources display very nicely including an older Samsung STB. The internal HDTV tuner looses signals, stumbles and de-pixelates (watch the pixels crumble). The outside off-the-air antenna was rotated and tuned to it's strongest signal to get MAX performance. The internal HDTV tuner continued to loose signal; however, the external SAMSUNG STB tuner never missed a beat. May work in area with really strong terrestrial signal strength as mine are above the mid-level and loose signals.
Had this less than 3 years by kokomo1234 ,Jul 29 '07
Pros: Size was perfect for the shelves in our house. Cons: It is now dead, will not work, had it less than 3 years...
It was worked fine, until this morning - nothing - it's dead. Press the power button, and nothing happens. Called Samsung, they gave us a repair shop phone number and address. I have a bad feeling about this...
Pros: When the television worked it was a great television. Cons: The television had issues since day one.
I bought this TX-R3079 a little over 3 years ago and the television decided to not power on today. I have read many forums and reviews and would advise against purchasing this television. If you decide to purchase this television then I would definitely make sure you buy the extended warranty because you will need it. I have trivial problems with the tv since day one. Now the television will not power up and it is going to cost me another $300 to repair. My best advice is to do your research and read all the product forums so you know exactly what problems you are buying. I am very dissatisfied and will not purchase a television from Samsung again. Samsung is aware of the issues this television has and ever so kindly refers you to a repair shop. Please keep this in mind when you are considering this television. The picture quality when the television worked was great, but the problems you have to go through to get keep your picture quality is just not worth the money. I am looking to purchase a new television and I hope this review helps with others purchasing decisions.
Pros: Initially it appears a good set for the $$ Cons: Only appears to last for 2 - 3 years.
I wonder if the positive reviews listed here are from users who have had this tv set for any length of time. I thought it was a great value for the money when I bought it. the picture wasn't bad, and it came with good features. This month I have owned the tv for 2 years. Guess what? It is now broken. The picture is blurry and there are green lines running through it. There is no way a tv costing this much money should have broken this soon. Now that I see the other isssues people have been having around the 2 - 3 year mark, I def won't go the Samsung route again. And they make such a nice phone.....
