Pros: Direct connect USB, excellent sound and decent battery life of at least 10 hours. Cons: Cheap plastic feel, no case or neck strap included.
This digital audio player is about the size of Apple shuffle but has a nice LCD display with 4 lines providing the right amount information for each track. Before going to details let me rundown some of the important specs.: - Has a lithium-ion ...

Pros: Easy to carry and take around, good volume, easy access, easy control, compact. Cons: Too small, slow to turn on and off, charges only at computers (USB).
My experience with the Samsung YP-U2J has been fairly well and enjoying. I attend a Jr. College School in the southern part of Utah where you can find wheather up to 100 or lower than 0! Not to mention all the rain and snow storms as well. plus with the ...

Very avererage player
by slishnevsky ,Dec 04 '06
Pros: Easy to use, built-in USB, no cables or software needed, USB 2.0 transfer Cons: Average assembly, average sound, buggy firmware, "system loading" crap, plays in alphabetical title order
I have recently bought this player because it looked simple and reliable (USB connector, no cables needed, no software needed). However, after a week I decided to return it. Main reasons are: average assembly, play button became loose. Play functionality is far from comfortable - you can't click&listen, you have to press&hold the play button for a few seconds to "load the system" each time you want to play, and for about 5-8 seconds it "loads the system" ;) Average sound quality, low frequency and bass mostly. The player comes with lots of EQ settings (of very low quality) absolutely useless & redundant, most of them almost identical, and you will probably use just one setting anyway. Firmware was buggy, didn't handle well compressed mp3 files, a few times firmware rebooted suddenly and as it was said, it doesn't play your files in their order :), not in track order, not in file order, so don't expect to listen your files in correct order. Also, it requires Windows Media Player 10 to be installed, Which I so much don't like and don't use. Radio is OK (personally, I don't even listen radio). Conclusion -> back to Future Shop.

Only plays tracks in alpha order - not in track order
by holymakeral ,May 11 '06
Pros: Tiny, fairly easy to use, FM, cheap. Cons: Only plays tracks in alphabetic order.
The price and performance of this player are great. The features are too limited. Here is the killer for which I would never recommend this player:
It will only play tracks in alphabetic order based on the media tag info.
It will not play tracks in track order.
It will not play tracks in file name order. In other words, you cannot put numbers in the file names to force playing in track order.
Samsung technical support said this is the only way this play is designed to work. They claim it is based on customer comments. I can't believe that!
So if you want to listen to any classical music or anything where the track order on the CD is important, you cannot do that with this player.
Update: If you use an ID3 tag editor you can go through all the track names and add a numeric prefix to match the track number. That will result in proper play order. What a pain in the @$$! The only reason I hang on to this thing is I hate to deal with Best Buy again and hope that a firmware upgrade will show up some day.

little piece of ...
by webkoch ,Feb 21 '07
Pros: blinking blue light
high battery capacity Cons: no decent play order possible
short battery status display
i agree with holymakeral.
even worse: i upgraded mine to latest firmware 2.162eu
and not even alphabetically by id:track name works.
of course alphabetically by filename or by id:track
do not work either.
what a piece of crap.
i got an answer from samsung about that problem
and they told me to use the first 5 characters of the filename for alphabetical order.
well that finally worked, but what the heck..?
are they using DOS inside?
at least it works!
