Pros: The food is fresh and inexpensive,fast friendly service.
Cons:  Little in the way of vegetarian or "health food". Can get noisy when busy.

The SD Chicken Pie Shop is one of its kind. Good inexpensive old fashioned comfort food is what they are all about. The chicken (and turkey combined)pies are chock full of meat and gravy.The best deal is the "pie dinner" chicken pie ,mashed ...

Pros: rich gravy, buttery crust taste homemade (who actually makes these at home)
Cons: Doubtful TOO healthy for the rich-ish gravy and buttery crust.

We only get the take-away, frozen pies from San Diego's chicken Pie Shop. At less than two bucks apiece, these little frozen pies can be cooked up real easily at home, and unlike your average grocery-store pot pie, these have nice hunks of real chicken, a nice gravy, and buttery crust. No peas, carrots, or other "fillers". Our teenager LOVES them, the ultimate comfort-food. We serve them at home with a green salad for a great fall or wintery evening meal. Someday we'll eat them AT the restaurant, instead of taking them home frozen, BUT they are great that way too.

Pros: cheap, filling meal. love the pies.
Cons: the pie definitely beats the chicken dumplings.

The San Diego Chicken Pie Shop is definitely the place to go for a cheap meal with all the sides. Personally, I love the pies (especially the cream pies). This is a simple place, where the chicken pies are a must. Tried something else once, only to regret not ordering the chicken pie.

Pros: The best in taste, value and family oriented
Cons: Absolutely NONE. These folks are the best

I have eaten at this restaurant since I was a kid at 4th & Robinson.  The meals are healthy, filling and very cheap for the quality which is a 10+. I am a retired SDPD officer and we had all our meetings (and still do) at this great family restaurant.  You can't get a better meal or deal anywhere else in San Diego.
