Pros: Smooth drinkability; Pleasant aftertaste; Compatible with many foods Cons: Finish is a little weak
Matt Brewing, Inc., is a craft brewery that produces a fairly popular line of microbrewed products under the Saranac label. This brewery, located in Utica, New York, produces about 8 year- round products and a large number of specialty or seasonal ...

Pros: Good interpretation of style, smooth and drinkable Cons: None come to mind
One of the things I like the most about the Saranac line of beers (brewed in Utica, New York by the Matt Brewing Company) is the great diversity of beers in their line. Stout, pale ale, Belgian Wit, IPA, Pilsner are just some of the beers theyve ...

Pros: good body, nice taste, low carbonation Cons: finish, harder for me to find now
Although I’ve seen the variety packs of the Saranac line of beers from the Matt Brewing Company up here in New Hampshire, I haven’t seen the variety I found back on Long Island. At our local beverage store there were usually two variety packs of Saranac ...

Pros: Refreshing dark brew with a subtle sweetness. Cons: None I experienced.
Sometimes it is true that you cannot see the forest for the trees. My spin on this saying is that I almost didn’t try the Black Forest for the rest of the Saranac line of beers.
So you are asking what the heck is this guy trying to say anyway....

Pros: a fine malty Bavarian dark Cons: could be more robust
Many breweries make beers based on the Bavarian lagers. These beers are usually well malted and flavorful. They provide a fine drinking experience for the drinker. The Bavarians make a pale lager and a dark lager. The dark lager is less often ...

Pros: Flavorful lager in the German "Black Beer" style; interesting and quite good with food. Cons: Somewhat limited distribution and availability.
Saranac Black Forest Beer is a very well made lager in the German "Schwarzbier" (Black Beer) style. With darkly roasted malt flavorings and a supple, smooth finish, this extremely dark beer is surprisingly refreshing and not nearly as heavy as...

Pros: Good tasting beer with mild character Cons: Seems closer to a mild stout than a schwartzbier to me
"On the third day of Christmas, my true love offered me, a dark beer from Bavaria, Germany." about SARANAC Saranac beers are brewed by the Matt Brewing Company, a brewery located in the foothills of the ...

Pros: Very flavorful without being overwhelming; super smooth; medium body Cons: Flavor is a little mild
Everyone drinks Pepsi and Coke, so why are so many people intimidated by dark brown or black beers? There seems to be a consensus among beer drinkers, whether casual or connoisseur, that the darker the beer the more acquired the taste. But what if there ...

Pros: Sweetness and drinkability, true to style, great with dinner. Cons: A lager will usually have a better head.
Wow! Black Forest is a quenching, malty brew from F.X. Matt's Saranac line. Saranac beers are brewed in upstate New York, with a hearty Adirondack mountain theme that adds to my enjoyment.
Black Forest is based on the German...

Pros: A genuine dark lager. Cons: I don't know how many I could drink
This lager is definitely on its own. I have found very few dark lagers that a truly dark. Most of those that I have found have had caramel colouring or the brewer didn't really think about what the dark grains would do to his beer.
Black...

Pros: Delicious, refreshing, different Cons: Not always available
Saranac makes a wider variety of beers than any other brewery I'm aware of, and generally does an excellent job with every style. Samuel Adams is considered by many to be the best American brewer, but to me, Saranac deserves the title for making great...

Pros: Unique flavor and characteristics Cons: none!
Saranac's Black Forest beer is truly in it's own category. This Bavarian black beer is excellent and refreshing. Kudos to Saranac!!! Requested more than any other Saranac beer on tap at any of the local (upstate New York) bars. I can't express...

Pros: A pleasant non-offensive dark beer Cons: The flavor may be too harsh for the light beer drinker and to mild for the dark brew fan
A guy I knew was moving and to get people to help him move he offered free beer and pizza. Not being one to turn my back on free beer or free food, I jumped at the chance. For the trouble of helping him move he picked up a case of Samuel Adams Boston...

Pros: wonderful malt with just enough hop to balance Cons: only available in sampler packs
I really like this beer. I am a real malty, so the flavors that came out in this one were amazing. It has a great cherry sweetness without being "sweet". The malts are multilayered, too, so they kinda come at you from different angles....
