Pros: Lush Green Lawn, Fewer Invaders of Wretched Crabgrass Cons: Product can stain your hard surfaces like: Sidewalks & Driveways.
Personally a big fan of Scotts Step Program for fertilizing my lawn, and Scotts Turf Builder with Halts Crabgrass Preventer is the first step of the year for me. I just finished spreading my lawn last weekend, and lucky for me, we ...

Pros: Encourages strong growth of bermuda and other grasses, gives crabgrass "barrier" Cons: Fluorescent, funky orange color!
I generally apply Scott's Turf Builder each spring to my bermuda yard, and follow it up in the fall with the winter treatment to minimize the outburst of the herbaceous garbage that inevitably invades my yard when the weather gets warm. I generally don't ...

I give up
by jvkirk ,Jul 11 '09
Pros: None Cons: Doesn't kill crabgrass!
I have used Scotts Crabgrass products successfully for years but the last 3 years I have had crabgrass and I can't get rid of it. I apply it at the right times, there is not too much or too little rain after it. It just isn't working anymore. I give up and am terribly disappointed.

Scott's Halts Failing
by dddixon ,Jul 30 '08
Pros: With Halts Plus, none: it does not work. Cons: Total product failure - very uncooperative company response to a 40 year customer.
I have exclusively used Scott's products for 40 years with success until the past two years.
Last year I reported to Scott's that their Halts Plus did not do the job and asked for a refund. All I got back was a snotty note that I likely did not know the difference between crab grass and water grass! If you live in Kansas City, identification of crab grass is not rocket science.
So, this year, I decided to give Halts one last try. I have been gone for a month and 20% of my back yard is heavily infested with crab grass and 10 % of my front yard is infested.
I have to assume that some product recall has caused Scott's to cut back on the barrier ingredient. Don't waste your time asking for their "non-quibble money back guarantee"; it should be renamed their "non-existent money back guarantee".
Sorry to have to report this, but Scott's has worked its way off the acceptable product list.
