  • Sleeping on Air

    Aug 17, 2002 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Adjustable to your own comfort, very comfortable initially, easy to put together
Cons: Foam ridge in middle, over time became very uncomfortable

Summary: GENERAL INFORMATION: This is air mattress made by Select Comfort, they call it the "Sleep Number Bed" because on the higher-end models, you can adjust the amount of air and each level has a number associated with it. They have recently changed the ... read more

  • I (we) love this bed

    Jun 8, 2012 by

Pros: Wife doesn't weigh as much as I do.  She can set her side.
Cons: It wasn't the least expensive model but it has still outlasted our last bed.

Summary: I have had my Sleep Number bed for 8 years, I was looking at buying stock in the company and found this site.  Since I bought my bed we now have 12 of them in my extended family.  I bought it because of a bad back --my wife because I needed a ... read more

Pros: Efficient setting up, comfortable for a 2 week period.
Cons: Overpriced and overglorified air bed.  Misleading warranty, bed leaks, pump in store is not noisy.

Summary: I first purchased this bed in 2007.  If I knew then what I know now, I would of kept going.  The delivery and setup was not bad.  I tried all settings from 35-75.  It took about a month.  I decided on a 55, and did not check the ... read more

  • After 5 years-don't recommend

    Apr 3, 2009 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Initially, after adjusting to the air system, very nice. Relieved shoulder pain.
Cons: Not durable. After 2 yrs. shoulder pain returned. Started seeing dipping in the middle.

Summary:   We purchased the 4000 or 5000 (? not sure-at time there were three, this was the middle one) in 2004. Both my husband and I are heavy. Figured a regular mattress would only last 8-10 yrs. Wanted something which would last longer with more reliable ... read more

  • Mattress OK, Quality and Warranty Terrible

    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: adjusbles i suppose
Cons: see above everything from price to comfort and quality

Summary: I purchased my select comfort bed in 2005 and have regretted it everyday since. You can adjust the firmness of each side but:-then one side is lower and you roll over- the sides broke down in less than a year when sitting on the edge to get out ... read more

  • It's just an expensive air mattress - no support

    Jul 8, 2008 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Doesn't weigh much -- that's the only thing good I can say.
Cons: No support -- backaches are practically guaranteed. Bed deflates and gets worse over time.

Summary: After one year of sleeping on a king-size select comfort bed, we are giving it up and buying a real mattress. There is absolutely no support whatsoever. The bed deflates and no matter what setting, it still sinks in the middle. (We are both fit and ... read more

  • Conclusion after 10 years: It's a glorified camping air mattress

    Jan 14, 2008 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Comfortable, as long as you don't move.
Cons: Big gully between chambers, Limited adjustability, high cost, LOUD air pump, need to re-adjust frequently

Summary: I am writing this review after coming to this site to look for reviews on mattresses. I'm shopping for a new mattress and I will not be buying another Select Comfort. Out of curiosity, I decided to see what others had to say about the mattress I've been ... read more

    Dec 28, 2007 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: two different sleep levels and it is light
Cons: warranty is misleading and unfair

Summary: I have had our bed for 2.5 years. We were very careful to ask about the warranty and the pump and were assured they were covered for 20 years....well that is only partly true. After two years, the bed and warranty are prorated. That means that after 2 ... read more

    Dec 4, 2007 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: I didn't find any. I didn't sleep better and I tried many of the settings.
Cons: The cost, the comfort, the 30 day trial cost!

Summary: Ok, I've been researching mattresses for awhile now and looking to buy. I have purchase 2 stearns and foster in the last 6 years and neither did my back any good. I saw the infomercials on the select comfort. I wasn't convinced, but went to the store ... read more

    Nov 11, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Comfort of air nice
Cons: Center sag is really bad and individual width isn't sufficient.

Summary: I've now had my select comfort mattress for 6 months so I feel I've given it a fair amount of time to reach a fair opinion. As far as the comfort overall, I love the feel of air. The only negative thing is that we have a queen sized mattress and with two ... read more

  • $3000 Disaster

    Aug 14, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Extremely comfortable when it works, which is almost never.
Cons: Endless required repairs, spectacularly awful customer service.

Summary: The 7000 series was extremely comfortable until almost everything went wrong with it. It lasted about 3 months. Customer support is miserable and they will not send a technician to fix your bed. You must do it yourself. "Five minutes is all it takes" is ... read more

  • I love my select comfort. It may be the best bed ever made

    Aug 13, 2007 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: I LOVE IT
Cons: LIKE I SAID I LOVE IT

Summary: So I bought my select comfort 4000 king size bed a few weeks ago even after reading some not so good reviews. When the bed came I kind of kept my fingers crossed I did the right thing spending so much money on an air mattress. I bed is a pain in the ... read more

Pros: less back pain; need less sleep
Cons: very, very difficult to get situated on for sleep

Summary: I bought the 3000 model queen size about 2 1/2 years ago. I have very mixed feelings about it. I bought it because I had trouble sleeping on a conventional mattress (mainly back pain) and was averaging 10 hours per night to feel rested. Background I ... read more

    Feb 14, 2007 by

Cons: no digital read out on this model
