Disappointed in company and product by lucyevelyn ,Feb 12 '06
Pros: none Cons: uncomfortable,no support
We recently purchased a bed from this company.Unfortunately we did not receive the bed we asked for.We told the salesman we wanted the 5000 with the up/down feature. What we got was the 5000 with no up/down feature.I called the salesman, the store manager and customer service. The answer I got was "gee I'm sorry, that feature will cost you an additional $1000." Why should I pay more when I was quoted a price for the bed with the feature? The company made no effort to resolve this.Clearly, the company has no interest in honoring what they say or keeping their customers happy.
Now I have a product I'm not happy with and is very uncomfortable. This bed does not offer any support.I would not recommend this bed to anyone.

Worst Bed I ever bought! by jesusthe1lord ,Sep 04 '07
Pros: None Cons: Everything, especially the lousy customer service!
Don't waste your money. This is a terrible product from a company with terrible customer service. It quickly began breaking down. Soon we were feeling ever component inside the bed. Including the hard high ridge between us. Remove the center foam, & you sleep in a trench. It feels like wrestling with an air mattress in the middle of a lake. Trying to stay on top of it, in the exact center of the air chamber is impossible & without doing that, you sleep at a slant. One hip always higher than the other. Called customer service several times. None of their solutions worked. Emailed the website, response back was "we've done all we are going to do for you." What 20 year guarantee???? It's an all out bad bad bad experience!
I'd rather sleep in my Honda Odyssey! by strums ,Sep 30 '07
Pros: None for anyone over 6 ft. and 200lbs. Cons: Uncomfortable, cheaply made, small air chambers.
Bought the California King and experienced all of the problems listed here. For anyone tall or over 200lbs., here is what you can look forward to:
1. Rolling to the middle of "death valley" to the $3 foam piece between the two air chambers, especially if you and your wife have different firmness settings.
2. A "soft" firmness setting that is achieved for larger people by creating some sort of small hammock configuration. Making it impossible to get out of bed.
3. Random increases or decreases in firmness.
4. Sleeping with your legs 2" higher than your torso.
5. Cannot tie your shoes by sitting on the edge of the bed because the side of the bed is essentially a $4 piece of foam.
6. Sore shoulders if you sleep on your side.
Overall I would have to say this is the WORST bed I've ever had. The only nights I sleep well is when my daughter comes in to sleep with mom and I go to her $199 twin bed from some cheapo factory outlet.
Pros: Its so very comfy...could spend more time if I didnt have to work Cons: We needed new sheets...not a problem..I like new sheets
We got our bed in the beginning of Aug and I have more energy and less aches and pains than I used to..its well worth the money.Hubby sleeps better too..it is a bit warm but its worth the trade off and we can keep the furnace down lower..we are lucky our sleep number is 65 for both of us..We did have trouble with the pump this month but a new one was sent out after one phone call.Hubby replaced it and it works fine now...Hubby and I are very happy with our extended queen and our cats are too.We got new sheets for it at Wal mart that fit perfectly..California king sized..I would suggest this to anyone with back pain...our old bed gave us a backache..
King 4 poster bed? This won't work! by pamchilton ,Jun 09 '05
Pros: nice mattress (had for 10 years) Cons: foundations useless in a king 4 poster bed
CUSTOMER NO SERVICE!
The foundations Select Comfort sells are much larger than the traditional twin foundations, and they won't fit into the holes provided in the 4 poster bed for the twin foundations. Customer service WAS USELESS. We are going to throw the foundations away, and start over. We just threw away the money we spent for their foundations- pathetic!!!!
I love my Honda and my select comfort bed! by souperman12001 ,Jun 16 '06
Pros: The bed is fantastic! Lite and easy to move to clean. Best bed! Cons: Pushy salesmen push unneeded pillow tops. Service was good. Delivery/install great!
If you drive a Honda you buy a Honda. If you buy a select comfort 5000 you will end up trying to get everyone you know to buy it too. It's that good! I love very few man made things, My computer, my Honda CRV and now my bed. I love going to bed every time. I know i will be very comfy and very cozy in it. My sleep number is usually 65, slightly firm. I tell people not to buy the pillow top models. Why? Because every pillow top model i bought from other bed makers had me sleeping in a rut just after a month. I did not wish to spend 2,300 smackers for a rut. It might be different with select comfort but why get a pillow top when you are already sleeping on air? If i need it a little softer i just lower the number a bit. Pushy salesmen try to sell the pillow top, Resist them!
Pros: Adjustability, comfort and ease of use,no maintenance, long lasting. Cons: Should have bought one sooner.waited 2 weeks for delivery.
I have owned the model 7000 queen size bed for one year and this is the best sleep I have ever had.I used to have severe back pain from sports and then a traffic accident a few years back. The model 7000 molds my body just right and I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day.No more aches and pains thanks to my Sleep Number bed.I purchased my bed from Landmark Mall in Alexandria Virginia and Eric really answered all of my questions and he showed me all the beds and he really let me stay on each bed as long as I wanted. He is very professional and really knows his Sleep Number stuff.I did not buy on my first visit, however, I did come back two weeks later before making my informed decision.I checked out other beds as well and they did no have the comfort and adjustability this Sleep Number bed has.The Model 7000 really gives me a great night's sleep each and every night.I am extremely happy with my Sleep Number purchase and I know you will be happy too.You should definitely visit one of their showrooms to experience their incredible design and performance.
Pros: WORTH EVERY PENNY NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Cons: NO CONS ON THIS BED.
This is the best bed you will ever buy in your life! We bought this product because my husband and I suffered for years with back, hip, and shoulder pain. We have slept more soundly and pain free since we have had the 5000 model. We like that we can set our sides to our comfort level. He sleeps on 85 and I sleep on 45. If you do not have then GET one! There is nothing bad to say about this bed. Hands down it is worth every good nights sleep in your lifetime! YOU WILL NEVER GO TO THE CHIROPRACTOR AGAIN!
SLEEP NUMBER BED BY SELECT COMFORT...GARBAGE by jahart ,Jun 15 '05
Pros: NOT ONE PRO ABOUT THIS BED AT ALL TOTAL GARBAGE Cons: EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BED IS A CON,GE

Pros: Sales reps. were good in fooling us. Cons: Their product is aweful.
Do not purchase any air mattresses from Select Comfort, the fact that they stand behind their product for 20 years is all lies. If you want to end up with back pain, which they don't claim is caused by their products, go for it. Their customer service is HORRIBLE and disrespectful- they need to be reminded that we as consumers are paying for this horrible customer service.
SELECT COMFORT MATTRESS IS NOT SO COMFORTABLE AS I WAS LED TO BELIEVE by jeff678 ,Oct 22 '08
Pros: Good marketing system. Product sounds wonderful and I always liked Lindsay Wagner. Cons: Product does not live up to the hype.
I purchased a queen size sleep number bed about a year ago. In all honesty it's the most uncomfortable mattresses I've ever owned. You may be able to get a good nights sleep if you have bionic parts like the company's spokes person, Lindsay Wagner, but if you still have the human spine you were born with it's very difficult to get a good nights sleep. My number one complaint is that the air mattresses are too narrow. No matter what setting you select, you end up getting pushed to foam separator that lies between the two mattresses. My number two complaint is that the company called me two days after the bed was set up to survey my opinion. Not really enough time to tell. If they value their quality, they should have called back for a second survey after about 6 months. I'm going back to a conventional mattress.
Pros: adjustable Cons: No cuddles, no comfort, was never firm enough
Was very dissapointed with King bed. We could not take the barrier between the two chambers and returned. The return process was horrible. They kept convincing us to try the bed longer, when we finally arranced for a pick up, they cancelled on us. When they came the second time, they broke our bed frame. Select Comfort said that the broken bed frame is not their problem. Would not reccommed to anyone that likes to move around in their bed.
Sleep Number Bed-not worth it? by emora ,Sep 06 '09
Pros: Easy for a stomach sleeper. Cons: 30 day trial-silly. Lack of sturdiness. Expensive.
About six months ago, in the search for a good night's sleep, my husband and I purchased a Sleep Number bed. Yes, it has the 30 day free trial, but it takes longer than 30 days to get used to sleeping on it. Four days ago, my husband's side deflated in the middle of the night, resulting in a very bad night's sleep. He thought it might be the pump or the hose, so he switched that to the other side. I slept downstairs, on a rock hard futon, so he could get some sleep. His side deflated again. So, it's the mattress. Neither my husband or I weigh 1000 pounds (not even together), so I will be interested in the response from the company. Of course, since it is Labor Day weekend, they closed early on Friday, and will be happy to assist us Tuesday morning, when my exhausted husband gives them a jingle!
purchase price is only the down payment on the select comfort mattress by verplanck ,Sep 28 '09
Pros: Two people can individually adjust firmness to their liking Cons: Shoddy, poor installation, expense to replace parts post 2 yr. warranty, continually losing air
It promised to solve the problme of providing each of us with a different firmness - when it works, it does. But its continually losing air so we need to use the pump - when it works. A two year warranty and then pump failed completely - near $200 to replace the pump; no instructions, surly customer service, remote control that failed and only after an argument was it replaced at no cost even though it was only 18 months old. Boutght three at the same time - one came badly stained; one was put on the wrong frame so changing the pump requires total disassembly; one was incorreectly put together and with no instructions it took hours to fix. STAY AWAY - its a problem
