Sennheiser MX400, a good companion to portables!

by minusflo , Oct 27 '02
Pros: Stylish, balanced sound, beats any Sony fontopia ear at its price range!
Cons: Short cord length, ear foam pads easily fall off.
Let me start by a rundown of the specs. as written at the back of the carton packaging:

* Frequency range: 18-20,000 Hz
* THD: less than 1%
* Signal-to-Noise ratio: around 119 db
* Driver material: neodymium magnet

An earbud worth trying

by Todd , Nov 21 '00
Pros: good sound, very inexpensive,carrying case
Cons: they are ear buds:>)
The MX400 is the latest earbud from Sennheiser. Seeing the very low sticker price and past experiences with earbuds told me I was in for a torturous listening session. Well, wasn't I surprised when I could stand to listen to them for more than 5...

Best Earbuds Money Can Buy

by keithlittle , Nov 15 '05
Pros: Top quality sound and construction, thumping bass, highly portable, excellent customer service.
Cons: Not closed headphones, shouldn't expect them to be, cord is a bit short but portable.
I'm a very careful consumer so I looked around for a long time before I settled on a pair of headphones that I actually liked. I was shopping for something portable, preferrably ear buds, that I could use with my Creative Zen Touch. I'm a stickler for ...

A few points about usability

by hedgy , May 13 '05
Pros: Comfortable. Good value.
Cons: Left/Right could be marked more obviously, but you can mark them yourself.
One of the other reviewers pointed out that the cord length was too short. It is shorter than some at a metre (3 feet) long, but it works well if you have one of the portable players with a remote control (e.g the iAudio M3 or an iRiver model). ...

These are terrible!!!!
by suzan2006 ,Feb 17 '06
Pros: NONE
Cons: TERRIBLE SOUND, CHEAP MATERIAL
The absolute worst earbuds I have ever used. I tried these on my iPod nano hoping that they would be better than my Sony earbuds. There is no comparison....Sony is much better. With the Sennheisers, the volume is lower, the bass less audible and the sound is distorted. Granted they were cheaper than the Sonys, but they are just way too flimsy for every day use. I do not recommend these at all!!!!! I think I will stick with my Sony earbuds or spend some more $ and get in-ear headphones.

Great price, good sound.
by km21 ,Jan 08 '04
Pros: Sound is very nice, good case for traveling, low price.
Cons: Earbuds are not as comfortable nor as great sounding as a good set of cans.
I use these when traveling, I have the Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones for the plane, and use these in the hotel while working in the evening.

I actually think they sound better than the larger noise cancelling 'phones. The sound is never fatiguing and the frequency range is excellent.

For earbuds they are reasonably comfortable, I can wear them for 4 or 5 hours and soon ignore the feeling while enjoying the sound.

And they are cheap!

Great sounding buds
by dekaliber ,Apr 15 '04
Pros: Great, balanced sound, inexpensive, comfortable, 2 year warrantee
Cons: None really
Out of all the earbuds I've tried in this price range, these are probably the best I've found. I've tried three Sony Frontopia models, the MDR-EX71SL, the MDR-ED21LPs, and the MDR-E828LP because I've been a longtime user of Sony's electronics, but none of them, even the more expensive EX71's, impressed me as much. The MX400 seemed to offer the best sound balance (the EX71's were good for electronica but really tinny sounding for rock/metal). For $15, these are a great deal, and there's no reason you should have to buy more expensive phones for casual use (unless, of course, you have that kind of money to blow).

Decent & Basic
by batvan ,Oct 14 '06
Pros: Decent Sound .
Cons: Expensive. Foam cover always comes off.
The Sennheiser MX400 is more on the low end of the Sennheiser line of earphones. For what you are paying you might as well cough up the extra $$ to buy in ear style earphones.
