I bought a 1997 Shamrock 220 Walk Around new.
by captpendejo ,Jan 26 '04
Pros: Well made boat, dependable fresh water V8 engine. I can work on it myself.
Cons: Oil pan drain plug housing developed a leak due to salt water.
I have had this boat for six years and have enjoyed every trip in it, since I purchased it new in 1997. Her name is Los Pendejos Two. It has the PCM (Sea Maxx), 7.5HO (Cheve 350), 4 BBL Holly, fresh water cooled engine. She has now about 600 hours on the engine. Always synthetic oil. I had a Tee Top custom made with a radio box. We take it off shore, sometimes 50 miles, out of Port Aransas, Texas. We sometimes spend the night off shore tied up to rigs. I'll take it to the lake and pull skiers. One time I pulled five at one time. I have had several types and various sizes of boats in the past and am the happiest with this one. The boat appears to be very well made. I sometimes have run aground by mistake, but, because it has a deep keel nothing has broken yet. The deep keel also keeps it from rolling when I am trolling off shore for hours on end.
