Pros: Wonderfully quiet for a portable unit. Beautiful appearance. Plasmacluster ion technology. Water evaporation system. Cons: Heavy! Programming by remote control only. Window vent not versatile enough for modern window designs.
While considering a portable air conditioner, I was warned by a friend not to expect the same kind of results as the office systems. Portables are always uncomfortably loud and far less powerful. I mean, on high fan speeds, most portable units sound like ...

Quiet, Pricey, Heavy
by tadziu ,Jul 08 '07
Pros: Quiet. Sleek looking. Cons: Heavy, window attachment flimsy. Poor manual, description of parts and features.
Bought it to cool master bedroom while waiting for center a/c unit to be replaced. Didn't want to go with a window unit. Was hooked by the portability aspect... move it from room to room on wheels. However, it is heavy, so getting it up to the second floor can be a workout. Also the window attachment is a chore to set up, so moving it from room to room isn't as easy as I thought it would be. It is quiet and cools the room efficiently.
The manual does a poor job describing the parts and set up.
Also doesn't explain the various features of the unit. For example the auto fan feature, does it cycle from hi speed to lo? Will the unit turn off when desired temp is reached?
Also all features are entered using a remote. If you lose it, or misplace it, you can manually turn the unit on and it will operate at the last setting that was entered using a remote. Can be operated as a de-humidifier also, but again the manual does a poor job explaining this.

Not so Sharp!
by reiannone ,Oct 10 '07
Pros: Quiet and easy to operate with a nice low profile look. Cons: Does NOT cool; weak output at first, now it does not cool at all.
I purchased the Sharp CV-P10MX Portable Air Conditioner 3 months ago to cool my basement; the unit stopped cooling after less than one month.
It is quiet and easy to operate and has a nice low profile look; I'll give them that. However, the portable unit had no real cooling power right from the start, which is the primary function of an AC unit, right. Now it doesn't cool at all; it's a really expensive fan; but not a very good one.
Now let's see how PC Richards honors their replacement policy
NOT recommended.

Don't buy: Sharp's warranty service is terrible
by smallsoapdish ,Jun 30 '09
Pros: There aren't any pros to a product with this kind of warranty support. Cons: Unit only lasted two months; Sharp customer service is terrible; warranty replacement took two months.
I purchased this air conditioner and it worked well enough until the condenser seized after only a couple of months of operation.
Sharp's customer service is a complete nightmare. The customer service personnel were rude and incompetent, and made a series of mistakes that slowed the warranty service process even more. After two months of arguing with them, and having them make various promises that they never honoured, a replacement unit was finally sent...to the wrong address! Buy a different brand and save yourself some trouble. Sharp's warranty service is simply unacceptable. I'll never buy another Sharp product.
