Pros: Large capacity.
Cooks quickly.
Many preset programs that are convenient.
Easier to set the clock! Cons: Takes up a lot of counter space.
Noisier than the older model.
We had such a good experience with our previous Sharp microwave, that we wanted to buy another Sharp. This one is larger and more powerful than the venerable 14-years-old-and-still-works Carousel II that we had. We have not been disappointed yet. ...

Pros: Black Cons: Non Standard Controls
Faint Ding sound
Flimsy feel
Bought this back in fall of 2006. Had this unit for about 18 months. I originally bought it for its capacity (2 Cu Ft) and that it is black to match my other appliances. I chose to ignore the non-standard controls. I chose to ignore the faint whisper ...

Pros: Large capacity and high power rating. Cons: Loud and broke quickly.
I purchased this microwave in November of 2007 after owning a smaller Sharp Carousel II for over 12 years. I loved the large capacity of the Sharp R-520LW, but immediately noticed it was considerably louder than our previous microwave. ...

A lemon from a company that doesn't care
by gardenix ,Nov 26 '08
Pros: Looks nice, compact for its size, spacy, and ok for ease of operation. Cons: Fairly noisy cooking, outside cover heats easily, lousy inside workmanship, bad customer service.
1. It doesn't take a lengthy cooking for the outside cover to get hot.
2. From the very beginning the swivel glass tray has been bumping slightly against the enamel-covered edge of its front inside floor with no way to prevent it. Eventually a line of a raw metal was exposed.
3. Cooking is fairly noisy.
4. Insured for 12 months and died after 13.5 months.
5. When I called Sharp’s customer service I had to fill the rep with every detail - from my address up to the serial number even though I registered my microwave online immediately after I bought. The rep. I spoke with had the face to tell me that her department (customer service) has no access to the registration department. Aside from a gross waste of my time by a company that makes sophisticated products, it also meant that my long past relationship with Sharp meant nothing to them. This microwave was my third Sharp microwave. Alas there would be no more for me!
6. Looks nice, compact for its size, spacey, and ok for ease of operation.

It is a good microwave.
by rkselter ,Feb 18 '08
Pros: Price, reliability, functionality, aesthetically pleasing Cons: The print on the control panel is a bit too small.
It has served me dependably since I bought it. I like that the chime is not really loud, there are to many things that beep these days. It is a attractive model with lots of functional features, all of which function as described in the manual. It cost a fraction of the $400 commercial model that it replaced. What is not to like?

does the job well- impressive machine .great buy!
by snoinip ,Feb 22 '08
Pros: size at 2.0 ,1200 watts, it's one touch keys and sensor cooking feature. Cons: low buzzer. black model leaves finger prints on the outside .
the sharp R520 LK microwave is perfect for everyday use . It has enough functions to satisfy the fussiest consumers from add a minute to a keep warm feature. You can adjust the power level and it does sensor cooking. I like the simple design and easy to use functions and its very quiet.

GREAT MICROWAVE
by dreamyone ,May 22 '07
Pros: Great size. Fits a lot. Cons: COOKS AT A VERY HIGH TEMP.
This is a wonderful microwave. It's large enough to fit almost everything. The keypad gives a lot of options. The turntable can hold extra large food containers and ceramic dishes. It heats quickly and evenly.
We're are very satisfied with this item. However, it does cook at an unusually high temperature, even for a microwave. (We have had many microwaves over the years, including other Sharps, and also have a General Electric built in over the range microwave, so we can say this with comparative knowledge). I have recipes which state that the foods should be cooked on high, and I have to lower the temperature to 50%(5)or 60% (6) and reduce the cooking time or otherwise the food boils over.
I would buy this microwave again and recommend it.
