Pros: Realism, Fights, Mini-Games, Music, Story Cons: Horrible voice acting
During the summer of last year I played through the original Shenmue for Dreamcast. I thought it was all right for the the first few hours of the game. Once I started really getting into it, it become one of my top three favorite DC games. When I heard...
Pros: Very good game play, excellent story, explains a lot. Cons: Character control, 3D a tad blocky, repetative sound
Note: I finished this game in about two weeks of on-and-off playing. Final update as of December 01, 2002. All star (*) ratings are out of a possible 5 stars (*****).
Introduction:
This game is a continuation of the...
Pros: so much to do, mini-games, it's freaking huge Cons: controls, voices, loading
Shenmue II was going to be released for the Dreamcast in 2001. However, Segas financial woes led to the game being released only in Japan and Europe. This decision left many US Dreamcast owners disappointed. But those frowns were turned slightly ...
Pros: Ultra realistic world. Deep, emotional story. Amazing Soundtrack. Great Characters. Cons: Some poor voice acting. Should have kept the DC dialog.
Shenmue for Dreamcast, despite its obvious problems, was a powerfull experience. I for one had played nothing like it, and it totally reshaped my expectations for games in the future. Id heard stories of a "new type of game never before seen" something ...
Pros: Just about everything. Cons: Voice acting, kind of lame ending.
I don't really know how to define Shenmue 2. I'll just say it's a fighting/adventure game with RPG elements. Shenmue 2, however, is a game that defies categorization. Sure, it incorporates fighting, but that's only a fourth or third of the game....
Pros: Brilliant sequel to Yu Suzuki's greatest story ever told! Cons: Voice acting can be irritating and Shenmue the Movie blew!
For those who don't know, Shenmue was an impressively large saga begun inside the mind of legendary sega arcade founding father Yu Suzuki, creator of Space Harrier, Hang-on, and the Virtua Fighter series. It's a breathtaking story about a young boy in ...
Pros: Real atmosphere, LOADS of fun mini-games, cool story, free DVD movie, good quality product Cons: Gets off to a tedious start, bad voice acting, lots of running back and forth
Story from Shenmue I:
Ryo Hazuki comes home to find a Chinese man and his goons accosting his father in their dojo. The Chinese man, Lan Di, seeks a special mirror that belongs to Hakuzi Sensei (Ryo's father). The men get away with the mirror in...
Pros: solid battle system, good enviornments, good ambient sound + crowd sounds Cons: horrible voice acting, decent graphics
Shenmue debuted with the Dreamcast about 5 years ago. It was a different game. It was really the first of its kind. Collecting toys and playing darts at an arcade game wasn't your typical RPG/Adventure game. You could even buy chocolate and participate ...
Pros: It's a good game balanced with action and conversation. Cons: Could've been so much more.
"Good game, but more could have been there" seems to be a good unofficial slogan for this game. When I first played the Dreamcast version, I was immediately sucked into Ryo Hazuki's universe. Great graphics and sound ran rampant in this "virtual martial ...
Pros: Real life encounters, sleep by 11 and wake up by 9. Gamble/work for $$. Cons: Same faces, expressionless. Unemotional voices, choppy fights. No surprises.
This is the first of its kind that emulates an RPG game with fists instead of weapons or magic. The ...
Pros: Somewhat nice graphics.
Thats about it. Cons: Boring gameplay, took too long to get into the next area, and too little action.
What is wrong with you people, this game came free with my Xbox and after playing for a few hours I will never play it again. It is one of the most stupid games I have ever played. I literally fell asleep during the gameplay. It had no imagination and just another product of bad Japanese merchindise. AAAGGGGHHHH!!!! to you all!
P.S. What is with the crappy rock music when the chick comes in on a motorcycle?
Pros: Everything about this game is Great! Cons: No Cons
This game is a great follow up to part 1. Anyone that has played it or will play it will see that it is truely how a video game should be. The graphics are great, it could stand to have slightly more interaction by allowing you to walk into every shop to buy things, instead of having only select shops. But that is the only knock I have against this game. It is by far my favorite game. I locked my self up for 3 days until I finished it, then decided to play it again. Trust me if they continue making this series and go on to a part 3 it will be well worth it. I don't know of anyone that doesn't absoultely love this game. Get it! Get It! Get it! if you can.
