Pros: A great way to hear new bands, good variety. Cons: Sometimes you just want the songs to be longer; no Oi! music!
Yes, I know that's the name of a previous Fat Wreck Chords compilation CD, but it just fits the topic, okay? Anyway, I got this CD back 3 years ago, and it's still a regular in my CD player.
Pros: such variety, how can you go wrong Cons: none of the above
Fat Wreck Chords presents one of the most original compilations in punk rock with "Short Music for Short People". This album utilizes 101 different punk bands, old school and new school alike, playing very short songs. In the genre of punk...
Pros: short tracks that can turn you on to a band, very funny lyrics, for the punk rawker at heart Cons: a lot of CD players won't play tracks 100 or 101, no Bosstones, Dropkicks, or RBF
That's right, 101 punk, ska, hardcore, and even a few reggae bands all playing songs that are a little over 30 seconds or less.
The best thing I can say about this CD is that it's good for a laugh. There really aren't any serious songs on here at...
Pros: 101 punk bands, funny songs, lots of variety Cons: profanity, if you are not a fan of punk rock you will not enjoy this album...
If you are wondering about my title, it is the lyrics to the first song on this album, Short Music For Short People. That line just about sums up this compilation. It's a hundred and one bands playing thirty second songs. This album will always keep...
Pros: Great Bands are present Cons: Songs are way to short
Originally, I was very psyched to listen to Fat Wreck Chord's compilation "Short Music For Short People". Looking at the back of the CD, I saw songs by many bands that I really like. So I had to buy it. I thought: "With so many cool...
Pros: 101diverse bands, funny, clever, offensive songs Cons: a bit too short, and not exactly great in the musical sense
Firstly, let me say that this is my favorite compilation of all time. I had heard so many great things about this comp, but I couldn't understand HOW 101 bands playing 30 second songs could be even worth listening to. Well one day I listened to...
Pros: Can't beat the value! Cons: You may not be amused.
Fat Mike has really done it this time. Who could resist the opportunity to own 101 tracks by 101 bands for such a measly sum? Certainly not me. And I wasn't disappointed.
Sure, there are some tracks from well-known bands on this album (The...
Pros: 101 bands, cool songs, unique Cons: 30 seconds is too short for some, profanity may be too much for some as well
I am really impressed with the way that this CD was put together. The front cover exclaims, "101 bands playing 30 second songs". Just the 101 bands impressed me alone. When i put this in my player and heard the punk, ska, pop-punk, and...
Pros: So many amazing bands with amazing songs Cons: The end part of the cd rots
I saw an ad for this cd in a copy of Rolling Stone magazine. I saw big yellow letters staring me in the face saying "The only compilation that has every band." Under this was the list of bands. I was exited and ran right out and...
Pros: Some funny, entertaining songs. Cheap price. Introduces people to unknown bands. Cons: Gwar, Anti-Flag, some other bands. Also, most CD players leave out the last 2 songs.
All the bands from Fat Wreck Chords are here, so that's definitely good. That means you have Lagwago ...
Pros: You can pick up so many new bands by 30 seconds of one song. Cons: There are some songs you may not like!
Im a hard-core punk and I purchased this CD because of some of the bands. I liked almost all the bands after listening to Fat Mike's best idea yet.
I sure do love Anti-Flag. And now Less Than Jake, NOFX, Black Flag, and the list goes...
Pros: Lots of diversity with the band lineup Cons: some of the songs are too short! and some players might not get up to that 101 song marker
Fat Wreck Chords presents 101 songs on one CD. You heard me right, 101 songs, done by 101 different bands! How is this possible you may ask? Simple. Have each band play a song limited to 30 seconds or less, and you've invested in a sweet CD. From famous...
If you are into punk or just like good music you should get this CD. It lets you hear alot of bands ....... 101 of them. So if you're looking for some new bands to get into this is a good cd for you. It has good bands like blink182 (sellouts),...
Pros: Provides variety, good for short attention spans Cons: Jumps around a lot due to varying tones from the artists
Short Music for Short People is a collection of 101 30 second songs. They are all made my popular punk artists and groups, ranging from Blink 182 (which isn't really punk) to Rancid and Screeching Weasel. The songs are not exactly 30 seconds, although most are. Some songs are about a minute long. There is some humor in some of the songs, when the artist incorporates the fact that the song is 30 seconds into the song itself. Other songs are simply refrains to previously released songs. The overall quality of the songs is very good--there were even a few surprises throughout the CD. It is definitely a good CD to put on and listen to all the way through.
