I Shure love Shure's E3c Earphones

by MattBjorke Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jan 19 '07
Pros: Beautiful sound output. Comfortable. Awesome storage case.
Cons: Price.
Introduction: Being an audiophile has many pluses along with a few minuses. Among the plusss is knowing your way around any music store and the innate ability to pick out good, unknown music. Another plus is having lots of music to listen to. ...

Good? Yes. $200 good? Hmm...

by underdawg Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jul 03 '07
Pros: sound isolating is great, sound is great
Cons: sound quality not much better than $70 headphones I've had before
I think I can accurately put myself in the category in between an audiophile and an average iPod-earbud wearing dude. I guess you could say I'm in the willing-to-spend-$40-$80-on-he adphones category. But I've always wanted to try some really expensive...

Shure E3C: Canalphones

by vtw3 , Jul 26 '05
Pros: Bass, Mids, Design, Warranty, Durability, Foam sleeves
Cons: Treble is a little exaggerated, but still good, hard flex sleeves are uncomfortable,
Well I'm sitting here listening to my 30gb iPod after I found the Shure e3c's I ordered right next to the front door. I immediately opened them and put them into my ears. It didn't fit and I forgot that I needed to find the right fit, too anxious. ...

Great sound and noise cancellation

by kwbarrett , Sep 06 '05
Pros: Very compact size, great sound, very comfortable, good bass.
Cons: Triple-flange sleeves should be included.
I originally purchased the E2C as a replacement to my Sony EX51. While the sound was noticeably better, after 2 weeks, I just couldn't find an acceptable level of comfort with them. I also wasn't able to find a set of sleeves that would stay put for ...

Sound Tight and Fit TIght

by green-z Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Sep 14 '05
Pros: Sound Great!
Cons: Odd fitting and pricey
Never a fan of traditional earbuds, both on the issue of sound and comfort, the first thing I did when I bought my original iPod was search out a comfortable, but decent sounding pair of headphones. After much trial and error I decided on the Sony EX51LP ...

Where have these been all my life?

by pward , Oct 08 '06
Pros: High-end pro quality with great accessories.
Cons: A little pricey for some!
My dilemna I've always struggled with cheaply made headsets (from the ones included with my iPod to several others I've bought in my search for the best mix of comfort and performance). When jogging or walking, the iPod standard buds don't ...

Shure E3C, studio quality sound to go anywhere

by jlc2005 , Jan 25 '06
Pros: Great sound, small size, tough design and isolate outside noise
Cons: Price, fit can be tricky until used to it.
The Shure E3C headphone/ear buds are a major advance in portable sound. Designed for professionals, these are not the wimpy ear buds which are supplied with most audio devices. The cables are substantial and tough and the sound quality is incredible. ...

Super clear sound, but meagre on bass, and too much hassle.

by giorgiomoroder , Oct 27 '05
Pros: Exceptionally clear sound. Super midtones, decent highs. Sensitivity is amazing. Build quality.
Cons: Way too much hassle. Lacking in bass response.
So, I decided to try out a canal earphone, not knowing what to expect (my dealer wouldn't let me try them out as the ear cushions come into contact with all kinds of destructive ear wax stuff). After an initial struggle which you have to go through, all ...

Very Good Takes a bit to get used to.

by windsurfed , Jan 06 '06
Pros: Crystal clear sound. Love how the wrap around your ear to stay in place
Cons: Take quite a while to (for me) to get it right!
My cousin had a pair and told me the price and I couldn't believe it. (quite expensive) I had to get a pair. He had the E5 So I just read the reviews and bought me E3's. I have an Iriver IHP-120 20 gig Jukebox. The earphones that came with it I ...

Great sound but not very durable

by framebo , Jul 30 '08
Pros: Great audio quality and comfortable to wear.
Cons: Wires are fragile and speakers prone to problems with volume
I have owned three sets of the Shure E3C earphones over the last three years. The sound quality is excellent and far superior to the included earphones supplied with the Ipod video or the Sony or Sennheiser sound isolating earphones I have tried. My ...

E3c Headphones or Headache?
by apdpsudx ,Feb 06 '07
Pros: Good sound quality, good comfort, long cord, many options for each pieces.
Cons: They break all the time!
I must say, when I first got these earphones, I was very pleased. However, over the passed 3 years, I have returned them 5 times for repair! They keep breaking! Several colleagues and friends as well have experienced the poor quality of manufacturing.

The sound is great, they fit nice, but they break all the time.

If you buy them, be prepared to send the back over and over again so you get your $180's worth before you give up on owning a pair.

I wish the quality was better, I did like them, but at the end of the day $40 Sony ear buds I have are far superior.

Good, But There's One Canalphone That Sounds Just As Good
by audio-freak ,Feb 23 '07
Pros: Good Sound, Small, Comfy, Loud
Cons: There Is No Big Improvement Over The E2C To Spend Another $80
These E3c canalphones give you the best of both words, small and sound. They are small enough to put in your pocket yet have big enough sound to blow you away. These E3C's do that, with a decent bass response, good mids, and good treble without brightness. Though, I do think they sound to much like the...Shure E2C, which is more than twice as inexpensive. There is little improvement between the two, other than these are slightly more bassier. They're still comfortable, and small enough to carry in your pocket. Though, I'd highly recommedn the E2Cs over these. There is very little improvement between that model, yet that other model costs $100 compare to these which are $180.

Great quality, with no white noise from noise canceling
by wh00dini ,Jul 23 '05
Pros: Great response for price. light weight and they don't have a trendy white cord
Cons: they don't have a white cord
I recently purchased the E3c to replace my bulky Sony MDR NC11s. I am a bit of a audiophile and can't stand to listen to poor quality. I have to say that these headphones are wonderful. I don't have to crank the volume on my iPod (Apple Lossless only encoding) to drown out the sounds on the tube or my motorbike.
I would recommend these to anyone for comfort (they come with a comfort kit), light weight, and sound.

Great Sounding "In Ear" earphones.
by danceeagle ,Dec 29 '06
Pros: Great Sound. Good isolation. Well made. Terrific 2 year Warranty.
Cons: In ear type phones mean you can't easily hear outside sounds. Dangerous driving cars, etc.
I've used these "in ear" earphones for for almost 2 years. As with any earphones of this type a lot depends on the fit inside your ear for comfort. They come with a nice assortment of various "buds" and I imagine they would fit almost anyone. Nonetheless if you don't like in the ear canal type phones these would not be good. Also they are great for sound isolation as there is no air space between the "bud" and your ear drum. That's great for really getting a full clear sound but not so great for hearing what is going on around you. You are isolated in your own little world of music or sound. Sound quality both highs and lows are terrific. They are very well made with much stronger wires than you will normally find on earphones. Nonetheless after nearly 2 years I started to feel like there was a short on the left side. Shure has a 2 year warranty and so I sent them back to Shure with a request to repair. Within days I got a brand new E3 from Shure with no hassle. Hurray for Shure's warranty!!

painful ears
by nigelsheldon ,Mar 19 '07
Pros: good sound, lotsa bud sizes
Cons: design hurts ears. Cord to thick and intrusive
The sound quality is great, the mids are clear and really do highlight scratches in bad recordings. After an hour of travellig listening at low volume my ears really do hurt though - perhaps not ideal design for my poor ears. I just cannot get the cord in an ideal position either, over my ear they keep falling out and in a standard position as well - need a softer less intrusive cable.
