Pros: Deep gameplay, mod system, accessible Cons: Leaders don't lend to dynamic gameplay, need better goal-oriented AI, hardware requirements on large maps
For years I avoided the Civilization games for the same reason I avoided World of Warcraft. I just was afraid that I might get sucked into the game too much that I would end up losing sleep. Lawns would go unmowed. Electricity bills would rise. Yeah I ...
Pros: Fascinating and massively entertaining look at history Cons: The military system really needs improvement
Civilization IV is the latest iteration of the redoubtable, very profitable computer game franchise from Firaxis. Everything is bigger, better, and prettier and this game will provide many, many hours of game play. It’s addictive. Really ...
Pros: Lush graphics, sound, gameplay, everything! Cons: easy to learn, hard to master; learning curve, addictive
I have generally moved away from computer games, instead relying on my consoles for my video-gaming fun. The ever-increasing technical requirements for the latest cool-looking games just made it hard to keep up. One exception I've made to this, ...
Pros: Improved graphics and sound, more victory options, automates some boring stuff Cons: Memory-hoggish, problems with patches
In The Beginning....: It's hard to believe, but it's been a bit over 16 years since I was invited to my computer-savvy friend Raci's house and "sneakily" introduced to one of the most popular strategy game franchises ever published. At the time ...
Pros: Gorgeous graphics, more complex and interesting yet more straightforward than Civ 3 Cons: Still pretty buggy. Gameplay needs to be faster.
Civ 4 is a beautiful game with complex dynamics that will tempt your strategic mind and keep you entertained for many many hours of gameplay. It's a revolutionary improvement on Civ 3, but the step up in features has some quality bumps along the way. ...
Pros: A great strategy game with tons of depth and immense replayability. Cons: Hard to get into, major performance issues without the patches, long games alienate casual gamers.
The first thing to be said about this game is that it will be very, very difficult for newcomers to jump into this game. It will be mildly difficult for even the most hardened of game veterans to jump into this game without reading the manual or online ...
Pros: Features improved graphics, more options, a more vivid and realistic world. Cons: Diplomacy is too difficult, it doesn't come with many scenarios, and it can get repetitive.
Civilization IV is magic. That's the only explanation I can come up with. It's not the biggest game ever, it's certainly not the most varied. The sound is alright and the graphics are okay. But somehow, this thing will steal your soul. Maybe it's the ...
Pros: Excellent additions like religion, civics and great people. A return to good old Civ values. Cons: Can bog down a little late in the game.
Civilization isn't a game - It's a way of life. That's how I felt into the third year of regular play of gaming demigod Sid Meier's original classic. In the intervening years since the release of the original Civ, there have been more expansion ...
Pros: Great gaming system, excellent graphics, better tiles Cons: Runs slow on older systems, Learning curve
Civilization IV launched at the end of 2005 and I bought nearly after its release. In its initial launch stage, I had to wait for several series of patches to be released before finally getting into the game. I was still amazed by the great graphics ...
Pros: Stunning graphics, sound, and immersive gameplay experience! Cons: Many sleepless nights, will take some time to learn
I am a die-hard Civilization fan since Civilization I. Naturally, I pre-ordered Civ IV in September 2005, and have been playing it ever since I got it. CivIV is an "easy to learn, tough to master" type of game. Needless to say, it will keep you up ...
No other game comes close to this. I bought this game a year ago just as soon as it came out. I played the earlier version so I had to buy CIV 4. Apart from some obvious bug fixes and improvement, the game play has been improved too. The concept of religion has been introduced, trading interfaces improved, new sub-races introduced which can later merge into your race. There are so many of them to mention. So if you are a strategy lover, grab this game and you won't regret it.
