Pros: Simplistic, Enriching, Rewarding!
Cons: None!
Would you like to *talk* with your baby? *"YES!"* I thought so! As an early childhood educator/care provider I would be rich if I had a dollar for every time I heard a parent plea his/her desire to be able to *hear* the desires/needs of...

"Hearing" What your toddler has to say before they can speak

by Shanny21 , Jul 01 '01
Pros: You get to communicate w/ your child, helps develop motor skills.
Cons: Like with anything it takes time to teach can get frustraiting.
Have you ever wondered what your baby is really feeling. Are they actually tried or do they want more dinner? Communication would be so much easier if you had a way to talk to your child and know that she/he understands, and wouldn't it be even better...

Pros: simple to learn and use, allows babies to communicate basic needs before they can speak

This is book is a "MUST HAVE" for new parents, in my opinion. The author, Joseph Garcia, provides a very useful illustrated guide for using sign language with your baby. Children are limited in their ability to communicate in the first two...

Pros: Enables your baby to communicate at a very early age, lowers frustration levels for parent & baby

I purchased this book after watching a story on a news show about early communication with infants, using sign language. The show was very informative and Joseph Garcia, the author of this book, was interviewed for this segment.

I just wrote...

It Works!
by yvonnezold ,Jul 11 '06
Pros: Affordable. Easy to learn w/ the CD. It works! Enables infants and parents to communicate.
Cons: Requires persistence and the signs in the book are hard to read.
I picked up the book w/ CD at Costco and wanted to try it out. To be honest, I didn't quite think it would work. I was very persistent in showing my 7-month old the first sign - the sign for milk - every time I offered a bottle. It took about 3 or 4 weeks...voila' - today my little one refused to eat any of her food and all of the sudden showed me the sign for milk! I couldn't believe it! I brought her the bottle and she showed me the sign again and again. I was giving her what she really wanted. Amazing! I can't wait to introduce more words/signs now.
