Pros: Not as smelly coming out; Lots of valuable nutrients
Cons: Smell; Cost is higher than others; Makes large amount of bubbles

Pros: Helps with immune system, building of bones, free formula, tons of coupons

When your newborns are staying at the hospital, they are given the best care possible. My daughter had to spend 2 extra weeks in the NICU because of an infection. She was terribly sick and of course we were terrified but as everyone insisted, she was in ...

Pros: Contains nutrients found in breast milk.
Cons: Creates soap like bubbles when shaken to mix.
I wanted to exclusively breastfeed my daughter, but sometimes all the best laid plans don't work out. When my daughter was born she was 7lbs 11oz. She was nearly hospitalized for jaundice and when she went in for her one week check she had lost a full ...

by mommykd Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Apr 16 '04
Pros: nutritional and doctor recommended
Cons: smell and cost
I know the old saying is that "breast is best", but sorry - this Mommy just isn't the breast feeding type. Don't condemn me - it's just not my preference or choice! But since I did want my baby to have the proper nutritional benefits, I chose the ...

Yuk! Buyer Beware!

by geishagirl , May 30 '04
Pros: other products by same brand were good
Cons: this product was inedible!
I bought the large can about 1 month ago. Although my infant would drink it, I threw the can out after it was only half finished as it would curdle and turn a light brown after adding water. The water would soon separate from the discolored milk. I ...

Not so great

by acalley , Mar 26 '03
Pros: Contains more iron and other important vitamins, and the DHA and ARA.
Cons: Hard to mix, a lot of bubbles.
Similac Advance is the most expensive and just not worth the money at all. I paid 22.50 for the big can of the powder. This formula made my child scream and cry for three days with gas pain, and constipation. The formula has a lot of vitamins in it,...

Pros: Price, quality, availability, formula checks from manufacturer.
Cons: Formula checks stop after 3 months.

A great choice for those mothers who need to supplement breastfeeding or can't breastfeed.

by nikkimac , Mar 26 '03
Pros: A great and healthy formula for babies. Great to use as a breastfeeding supplement.
Cons: Never kept stocked at the stores and is hard to find.
I just want to start out by saying that this formula is great. I really wanted to breastfeed my daughter until she was at least 6 months old, however I was only able to for about the first 3 months. Similac Advance was my first choice and I've stayed...

by raj_sharmausa ,Sep 22 '04
Pros: Just Like Breast Milk,Great Product,My son Loves it, Easy to use.
Cons: Through Out Sometimes but thats normal as per doctors.
I have one son named Shawn, just 5 months old right now.
He was 8 lbs and 21.5 " at time of birth. Then doctor came for check up and asked us to start Similac regular with iron.We started it and everything went fine.He sometimes throws out but doctor said it is normal.
Then we asked doctor about the difference in regular and advance and he said advance has those two contents which are in breast milk.We asked can we try that ,The doctor said why not.
Then we started Similac advance after one month. My Son is a Gerber baby.He loves this milk and only little bit throgh out sometimes.
Main Concern for Some Parents:
It is expensive : I will say yes it is but you know what Nothing is more valuable than your kid.
I am still using it and Will recommend it to use.
You can concern your doctor.

Similac Advance works well!
by murphymj ,Mar 22 '04
Pros: Nutritious, easy to use, liked by baby, well-tolerated.
Cons: Expensive, takes some effort to adequately dissolve.
I am a physician who adopted an infant last month. I reviewed the available evidence on infant formulas as we were not able to breast feed. It is clear that infant formulas have improved in recent years, particularly with the addition of extra fatty acids that promote brain and eye development. The two most popular products that have these fatty acids are Similac Advance and Enfamil LIPIL. Since the FDA regulates the composition of the formula, they contain similar ingredients. We bought Similac Advance powder after we found that our newborn son tolerated the similac advance that he received in the hospital. He never spits it up and he devours it! The formula is more expensive than others, but the large powder can cost about 24 dollars at the local discount warehouse and feeds him for a week. You have to be careful to heat the water before mixing in the formula and make sure that it is adequately dissolved so that none of the precious nutrients are lost. We make up a days worth of bottles each evening and refrigerate them until use. The formula has been great!

Baby eats without fussing
by maiamom ,May 25 '05
Pros: Tastes good Easy to make
Cons: Expensive
This product has been wonderful. My baby girl was always fussing when she was eating and finally somebody suggested changing her formula. It took a couple of days but I am positive that she likes Similac much more than her other formula. She usually gobbles it up without a peep! The only thing I don't like is the foam but it is worth it to have my baby eat.

Gas Attack
by rusha82 ,Feb 20 '06
Pros: -contains omega 3 and 6
Cons: too bubbly, caused a lot of spit up and gas
My son used this formula for about 2 months, until the $10 off cupons ran out. It was around this time I was noticing my HUGE mistake. He spit up all the time, everywhere...and had so much gas! This formula just was TOO bubbly for his poor little tummy.
