Pros: nutritional and doctor recommended Cons: smell and cost
I know the old saying is that "breast is best", but sorry - this Mommy just isn't the breast feeding type. Don't condemn me - it's just not my preference or choice! But since I did want my baby to have the proper nutritional benefits, I chose the ...
Pros: other products by same brand were good Cons: this product was inedible!
I bought the large can about 1 month ago. Although my infant would drink it, I threw the can out after it was only half finished as it would curdle and turn a light brown after adding water. The water would soon separate from the discolored milk. I ...

Similac Advance works well! by murphymj ,Mar 22 '04
Pros: Nutritious, easy to use, liked by baby, well-tolerated. Cons: Expensive, takes some effort to adequately dissolve.
I am a physician who adopted an infant last month. I reviewed the available evidence on infant formulas as we were not able to breast feed. It is clear that infant formulas have improved in recent years, particularly with the addition of extra fatty acids that promote brain and eye development. The two most popular products that have these fatty acids are Similac Advance and Enfamil LIPIL. Since the FDA regulates the composition of the formula, they contain similar ingredients. We bought Similac Advance powder after we found that our newborn son tolerated the similac advance that he received in the hospital. He never spits it up and he devours it! The formula is more expensive than others, but the large powder can cost about 24 dollars at the local discount warehouse and feeds him for a week. You have to be careful to heat the water before mixing in the formula and make sure that it is adequately dissolved so that none of the precious nutrients are lost. We make up a days worth of bottles each evening and refrigerate them until use. The formula has been great!
This product has been wonderful. My baby girl was always fussing when she was eating and finally somebody suggested changing her formula. It took a couple of days but I am positive that she likes Similac much more than her other formula. She usually gobbles it up without a peep! The only thing I don't like is the foam but it is worth it to have my baby eat.
Pros: -contains omega 3 and 6 Cons: too bubbly, caused a lot of spit up and gas
My son used this formula for about 2 months, until the $10 off cupons ran out. It was around this time I was noticing my HUGE mistake. He spit up all the time, everywhere...and had so much gas! This formula just was TOO bubbly for his poor little tummy.
