Pros: Quality, name you can trust, "comfort zones" for support Cons: Expensive
We needed a new mattress. The problem was that after a short period of time the ones that we had previously bought seemed uncomfortable. Part of the reason was was because we were buying cheap brand and lower quality, but we couldn't afford a good...

Pros: I sleep great and most of my neck problems cleared up! Cons: I'm really short & I almost need to jump up into my new bed!
I hadn't slept on "traditional" mattresses in 20 years! I had owned a waterbed and then progressed to a mattress with water-filled tubes inside it. I had also been having regular trouble with my neck and lower back for years and wondered if...
Pros: Good Support with firm support Cons: Weak Edge Support. Don't get teflon coat
Needed a new bed because, well, when we bought our original Sealy queen we only bought it for 2. However, after 10 years, we now had 2 young kids who always seemed to end up in bed. Let me tell you, a queen just does not cut it. So based on all the...
Pros: Proper support that "gives" to achieve amazing comfort. Never need to flip or rotate it! Cons: This is a premium mattress, therefore it costs much more than the advertised "specials".
The Simmons BackCare Ultimate Supreme is a fine, premium mattress that, although about twice as expensive as the mattresses most often adverstised by stores, is reasonably priced for the quality you get for your money. This "No-flip" mattress has...

Pros: A dream to sleep on for about 8 months Cons: Sore back everyday, impressions in the mattress, very deep ones

Pros: The best night's sleep you'll ever get Cons: A little pricey - but worth it!

Pros: Very comfortable and supportative for a short period of time. Cons: One cannot afford to buy a new mattress every few months.

Pros: Appearance and initial support is truly amazing Cons: fast breakdown of mattress into an unusable state is even more amazing
At first the support & comfort of this mattress surpassed anything we'd ever tried. Now less than 6 months later, the indentations where each of us lay are indicative of the lack of support now in those areas. Despite being normal sized humans, It's ...

Pros: It was good for a year Cons: It breaks down quickly and provides no back care or support at all

Pros: Feels great when you first buy it. Cons: Is unusable after just five years.
We bought a Simmons Back-Care mattress and boxspring set 5 years ago, and loved the way it felt. Not too hard, not too soft, just right. But just five years later, it's unbearable to sleep on. It sags in the center of the bed, so that my wife and I ...
Pros: Looks nice. Pillow top decent. Cons: Breaks down quickly. Very painful to sleep on. Full 10-year warranty is a farce.
We consider ourselves meticulous consumers and after doing our best to research mattresses, we were impressed by the favorable reviews received by the BackCare and the fact that the design idea (5 zones) seemed fairly innovative. I won't write a long revi ...
Pros: Revamped models may address breakdown issues Cons: Too soon to tell. Check back in two years.

Pros: Great support. Durable (as judged after 9 years) Cons: Too firm for some people

Pros: Like Sleeping on a cloud Cons: Very expensive compared to most mattresses on the market today.

Pros: good independent coil suspension, comfortable, thick mattress. Cons: A few occasional very minor movement noises.
We've had the Simmons Backcare mattress for about a year now. It has been very comfortable with just the right firmness and softness for us. We bought the queen middle grade pillowtop style set.
My brother bought the same one in a king size and he was ok with it but his girlfriend, after about a month, complained that it hurt her back. So they took it back and bought a different brand.
Pros: firm for several years Cons: big craters developed several years into ownership. Didn't last as long as the warranty.
We bought the mattress 10 years ago and rotated it faithfully as suggested by the salesperson. We were told that the mattress had a 10 year warranty (which he explained they would give us a pro-rated amount for early failure). This mattress had us sleeping like babies for about 8 years. The last two have been unbearable and a real pain to sleep on. We're buying a new mattress, but not Simmons.
Pros: Loved the extra width of the mattress. Cons: This was an expensive mattress, and it didn't hold up at all.
Back in June 2003 my husband & I purchased the Back Care mattress in the Olympic Queen size. We loved it at first, but after four months, I was starting to wake up with shoulder & back pain. It was difficult to move around in the bed, I felt like I was stuck in a hole. My husband was still in love with this mattress, so there was no way he was going to replace it. But lo & behold, he hates it now also (yea!!!). He's been complaining about waking up sore.
When we go to bed, we roll towards the middle. It feels like we're sleeping on a 50 year old mattress! I'm going to call the store where we purchased it and see what can be done. Our first mattress was a Serta, and it lasted 20 years!
$3000 Simmons Cal King Mattress Sucks by nytshadows ,Mar 24 '07
Pros: NONE Cons: Horrible quality considering the high price.
Simmons needs to be put out of business. The quality and durability of their mattresses is horrible. I purchased this in what I thought would be a quality purchase because of the price and comfort when I tried it out in the store, but in only 3 month's a deep depression was very noticeable on both sides of the bed. Had a tech come out, measure and request a replacement under warranty and in all, it took almost 3 month's to get the replacement. The deliver men said they are replacing Simmons mattresses all the time. My actual mattress they said is a popular one for needing replacement. They also said that they "hope" this one lasts a "little bit" longer and chuckled. What does the average consumer have to do to not get ripped off by these companies that obviously know they have problems. I guess that's why the damn thing cost 3k to begin with to cover the 10 years worth of replacements that I already know I'm in for.
My husband and I opted to purchase a BackCare about 2 years ago after doing some extensive shopping over a month's period. We liked the initial comfort it provided, the design/style, and the price was not as hefty as some of its similar competing mattresses. About a year later, it started to breakdown. The sides are sagging and the middle has sunk in significantly. We called in our warranty. Denied! It was "normal wear & tear". Are you kidding me? Shouldn't a mattress last at least 5 years?! Let's just say I am online right now doing some EXTENSIVE research on our next mattress. I hate to discount Simmons as they are known for great quality, but unless your mattress has sunk the standard 1.5 inches, your warranty is useless. I'm unfortunately put-off by this brand and will be looking for something that is known for its durability. After all, does anyone really want to mattress shop every 2 years? I don't think so.
Pros: Amazing mattress it's first year. Cons: Too costly to replace every year!
I bought a Simmons Back Guard mattress two years ago, it was a dream for the first year, I have never slept so well, and looked forward to getting into bed. About a year ago, I started noticing a dip in the middle of the bed, (I weight 140#) over the last twelve months the dip has gotten increasingly worse. I have been faithful about turning and rotating the mattress, and this has done nothing to help. I'm ready to get a new mattress set, and if Simmons can't or won't do anything about it I will never buy another Simmons.
Pros: Really comfortable the first year Cons: Too expensive for needing replacement after only 3 years
We purchased our Simmons Back Care Mattress 3 years ago. When we first got it, it was like heaven to sleep on - so comfortable. The problem comes with the pillow top section that has memory foam in it. After about a year, the memory foam adjusts to your body shape and never changes... my husband and I are suffering from back problems we never had before. So much for "back-care", it's miserable... we find our couch in the living room more comfortable. We will never purchase a Simmons product again.
Simmons world class carroway by mdc521 ,Nov 26 '04
Pros: The feeling of something working with you to help you sleep. Cons: having to get out of it to go and pay for it.
This is the kind of mattress that is hard to get out of and easy to want to get back into. I never feel like I sink into this mattress as much as it comes up to meet me. This has led to many nights of sleep without tossing and turning.
Didn't Last Like it Should Have- BackCare it's Not! by andsyandsue ,Jul 03 '06
Pros: Very soft and comfortable in the beginning. Cons: Did not last. Sags quickly, shape of pillow top.
As some other users stated, after not even 3 years of use, the mattress was sagging where we slept, to the point of terrible backaches every morning. "BackCare" I think not! Also worth a mention was the shape of the pillow top-it was so convex that we figured we lost about 2 inches of sleep space each due to the shape. It doesn't sound like much but space is an issue with a Queen size bed. We bought a 100% foam mattress the other day to replace our almost new mattress.
Saggons Not So Good Backcare by epinioninov ,Aug 18 '06
Pros: Solid and firm back supporting mattress. It has a plush pillow-top for comfort. Cons: Poor durability. Pillow-top layer has a 2 to 3 inch valley within 1 year.
My wife and I were very pleased to buy this mattress. It seemed like the best of all mattress types. A firm mattress to support your back yet it has a nice a soft pillow-top for comfort.
After 6 months we noticed body impressions, and since we are both athletes and quite fit, weight is not an issue. Now after a total of 12 months the top cushion layer is compressed 2 to 3 inches! Simmons warranty claims anything greater than 1.5" is unacceptable.
I am now waiting for the inspector, who has already missed his appointment today. Another black eye for Simmons and Bedmart AZ.
Simmons Back Care - I do not recommend by uclababe ,Mar 08 '07
Pros: n/a Cons: uncomfortable, can't sleep, back pain
I bought my Simmons Back Care mattress almost 2 years ago. I haven't been sleeping well and I have been having back pains for over a year now. I thought buying a decent mattress (meaning spending a little more $) would benefit me, but it didn't. Now I want to sell it and get the mattress my boyfriend has, which is a Sealy Posturpedic Belmont. It is super comfortable and less expensive. So in conclusion I am not happy whatsoever with my Simmons Back Care.
Pros: Extremely soft Cons: Low quality materials, poor construction
We have had this mattress for less then 2 months. In this short period of time, the foam layers have quickly deteriorated to point where is is uncomfortable and hurts your back to sleep on. They tell you an indent of 1 1/2" is normal. But now it offers no support unless you sleep in exactly the same position ever night and don;t move at all.
I had high hopes for this mattress and was hoping the other reviews were isolated, but seems the problems of others have now turn into mine.
Now I find I need a firm mattress, as this one just comes the way it is, its hard to classify what it is, But if you need a firm mattress stay away from this one.
We choose to just go with a regular firm mattress NO fancy pillow tops that will fad over time, and just bought a memory foam topper like we had on the old queen.
Pros: Can't think of any. Cons: The firmness in upper area that is supposed to support the back is actually painful!
We bought this mattress as a replacement for 2 (yes, 2!) other Simmons mattresses that had been replaced by Simmons as defective (they developed deep depressions.) If the store had carried any other brands, we would have stayed away from Simmons. The very first night on a Back Care was painful. We woke up stiff and achy, especially my husband's back and my ribcage. Things got a little better the longer we slept on it, but we tossed and turned all night and felt like we hadn't had a good nights sleep in forever. After going on vacation and sleeping blissfully on 4 different beds, we came home and the first night back, I actually had to get up and move to the couch. I would not recommend any Simmons mattress! In addition, their customer service was terrible. Many phone calls unreturned. We had to wait months for the warranty issues on the first 2 mattresses to be resolved.
Pros: Firmness, and comfort Cons: It was a little expensive
My Simmons mattress is the best investment that I have ever made. It is firm yet feels as though it just wraps around you. I have slept better on this mattress than any other I have ever owned.
Pros: looks good? Cons: My back is or was killing me! (read above review)
After only 5 years a sink hole developed in the middle. Great if you sleep alone, but for two your tryin to dig out n away from each other all night. I recently replaced my mattress with a 4 inch memory foam and a $25 air mattress and its as good or better than this Simmons ever was and for only $135.00 total cost. Compared to ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED for the Simmons. Never will buy this brand again, they need to be SUED!
Simmon's BackCare mattress for degenerative arthritis by cascadetelcom ,Oct 18 '07
Pros: I get more sleep and suffer from less lower back pain. Cons: Expensive, but worth every dollar.
It was time for a new mattress, I tried several high end mattresses for extended periods of time because I suffer from degenerative arthritis, after trying them for several weeks I still experienced difficulty sleeping and usually woke up with severe lower back pain.
I finally tried/purchased a Simmon's BackCare gel mattress and can report that my back pain has been reduced by 70-80%, I sleep for longer periods and wake up with very little to no lower back pain. I have had my BackCare mattress for approximately two months and wish I would have switched years ago.
If you suffer from arthritis and have back problems, try a BackCare mattress.
Pros: Okay if you are a back sleeper or enjoy waking with back pain Cons: Not for side sleepers
Poor quality of materials
Mattress sags within 6 months
I've had this bed for nearly 2 years now and I can't say I've been happy with it in the past 1 1/2 years. I wake with back pain every morning. 6 months after I bought the bed, the mattress was sagging and I heard a crunch as I got out of bed one morning. I suspect a spring or the sidebar broke. Since then, sleeping in the bed has not been the same. I can sleep okay on my back, but if I try to sleep on my side or stomach, I awake with severe back pain. I'd say it was just me, but my husband is having the same experience. I paid $1500 for this mattress, and now I'm shopping for a new one. It's unlikely that I will consider a Simmons mattress in the future. This is the second Simmons mattress product that I've had to replace prematurely. The other was an air-filled mattress system designed for full-time use that won't hold air.
Pros: BREATHEABLE PAD, NOT HOT Cons: WAVEY SURFACE, HARD POKEY SPRINGS, PAD FLATTENS FAST
IT FELT GREAT AT THE STORE, THEN TO GO HOME AND SLEEP ON IT WAS AWFUL! IT FEELS LIKE YOUR SLEEPING ON A SPEED BUMP. THE PAD IS VERY BREATHEABLE SO YOU DON'T SWEAT, BUT THE HARDNESS OF THE SPRINGS AT THE MIDDLE BACK AREA WAS JUST TOO MUCH. ALSO THE PAD AT THE HIP AREA WAS COMPLETELY FLATTENED IN TWO WEEKS, GIVING IT MORE UNEVENESS. I HAD TO GET RID OF IT AFTER TWO MONTHS. I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. MY MIDDLE BACK WAS KILLING ME FROM THE HARD SPRINGS WHICH INTURN BOTHERED MY LOWER BACK. MY OLD BEAUTYREST WAS GREAT FOR 12 YEARS, BUT I THINK THEY JUST CAN'T MAKE THIS BACKCARE IDEA WORK.
would never buy another Simmons mattress at no price by trishstar ,Jan 30 '08
Pros: CAN'T THINK OF ANY Cons: VARY POOR QUALITY VARY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
we bought a Simmons mattress the pillow top thinking it would be great but we were wrong after a year or so the middle began to break down the rep came out and said it had to be at least two inches for the warranty to replace it i rotate it ever so often and it hasn't gotten any better been shopping for new mattress another thing they don't tell you is if there is any stain at all on mattress your warranty is VOID IT Don't MATTER IF IT IS ONLY ONE MONTH OLD OR ONE YEAR I WOULD NEVER TELL ANY ONE TO BUY A SIMMONS MATTRESS VARY POOR QUALITY AND THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THERE WARRANTY
We bought a king size Backcare 300EL in Sept. 2003.
Since then, I have had back pain. As others wrote, we had the impression test some time in October 2004. Then I started going to gym in the mornings, and back pain did not bother much during the day. Subsequently, I forgot the bed issue though my backpain was always there when I got up. It is particularly obvious if I return after a travel of a couple of weeks.
After reading all the reviews here, I will contact the Simmons again to resolve it.
How can we make Simmons to recall the Backcare? It is still on there website.
I've loved my BackCare mattress for 7 years now by dorrie9 ,Jul 18 '07
Pros: Supportive, comfortable, wish I didn't have to get out of bed every morning Cons: expensive 7 years ago, but it's lasted this long so it was a great purchase
I'm amazed to read all these reviews saying the mattress "breaks down" after a few years ... I've owned my BackCare mattress for 7 years now, and it is still extraordinarily comfortable and supportive of my back. I sleep like a baby every night and never wake up with a sore back ... the mattress continues to support my back. I did order the most supportive BackCare mattress available in the year 2000 (can't remember the model name), so maybe that's the difference. Anyway, two big thumbs up from me--I've recommended the mattress to all of my friends and family.
