Simmons Beautyrest Express Bed- For a temporary path to a good night's sleep

by jo.com Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Jan 18 '03
Pros: Comfortable and amazingly easy to inflate and deflate.
Cons: Doesn't come with a duffel bag. The pump is loud.
I recently spent some time at my daughter’s apartment and slept on her Simmons Beautyrest Express Bed

About the Express Bed and what it comes with:

The Express Bed is an air mattress. It inflates to...

WAY ahead of cheap (junk) and less expensive than the premium (expensive) Aerobed-type products

by doublehelix , Jan 25 '03
Pros: Affordable, thick, and comfortable, with FAST dual-use pump that makes inflating/deflating truly simple
Cons: If you like it firm, the uneven surface requires use of a mattress pad
Like most people who have used air mattresses, I've tried several cheap ones before I gave in to a more expensive one. The cheap ones have all failed - they were too thin, they leaked the first night (leaving your hips on the hard floor underneath), the...

A Weird and Uncomfortable Experience . . .

by your_name_here , Feb 28 '06
Pros: Doesn't Leak; Cheap Enough
Cons: Read the story for it all...
After finally giving up on our tired, old queen mattress, I dug up this air mattress from Simmons which looked pretty OK. It seemed acceptable in terms of both comfort and durability on epinions.com; and was referred to as a "pillow top inflatable". ...

Simmons Pillowtop Expressbed

by d_nrhodes , Jul 23 '04
Pros: Easy to use and durable.
Cons: Kept growing in size. Comfortable, but the "bumpers" got in the way.
Over a year ago we realized we needed a new mattress and didn't have the funds to purchase the traditional type mattress. So, we investigated air mattresses and experimented with an inexpensive campers air mattress and slept well. Then we graduated to ...

Iso-Comfort Sofina Air Mattress (Purchased from Sam's Club)

by bunnyjeny , Aug 25 '06
Pros: Memory foam on top is soft, puts it a level higher than the run-of-the-mill airbeds.
Cons: The pump does not take batteries and requires a long period of charging before use.
I bought the Iso-Comfort Sofina Bed from Sam's club also. Used it 3 times and never could get it to stay inflated for more than three hours. (I've got to say though, that when it *was* inflated, it was the most comfortable air mattress I've ever lain ...

Simmons Quality in an Air Bed
by planetrjl ,Apr 12 '05
Pros: Good value, Easy to use, Pump/Blower is useful and helpful.
Cons: Retail Box is only storage.
Not much bad to say about this bed.
It worked good while in the middle of a move, and has lasted through relatives sleeping over, deflating, inflating, and storing.

Comfort is very par for all air beds. This one can stand up to high tension, which for my taste is needed. I had slept on it for two weeks while in a move between two homes, and it never deflated, nor let my butt drag on the ground while sleeping.

Many air beds usually only last for about 10 uses, while this one has been a good lasting bed well past that.

The electric air blower pump has come in handy for other uses as well. I can say the pump is the best part about the bed. I've even used it to dry paint. It is very powerful, and for the amount paid total, that comes as a surprise.

Someone quoted that the pump was noisy, but I have not yet come across a pump on one of these Air Beds that aren't.

I would give the value of the whole package an " A "

Excellent Product!! Comfortable! Affordable!!!
by newenglanddawn ,May 18 '04
Pros: Inflates quickly. No leaking! Affordable at 1/2 the cost of a Aero bed.
Cons: Has some rolls for equal weight distribution. This could be Uncomfortable for some individuals.
I bought this inflatable bed to use in my new apartment until my futon arrives. I have been sleeping on it for a month now. I find the mattress to be very comfortable. The surface of the bed is line specifically to help keep sheets on the mattress. I have had no problem with the sheets remaining on the bed. The pump, though a bit noisy is very powerful and inflated the bed in barely a minute. I have not experienced one leak so far in more than 30 days of nightly use. I am not a small woman and this bed is comfortable and accepts my weight of 230lbs easily. I checked the opinion for this mattress along with several others including the Aero bed. The cost of the Express bed was considerably less and its holding up to everything it says it is! I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks to the other reviewers on this site!

Early Pump Failure
by sharon90 ,Nov 30 '03
Pros: High quality, comfortable bed
Cons: Faulty pump which is a fire hazard
I purchased the bed over a year ago, but only used it 3 times for when my brother visited. I have the Queen size, which comes with the pump to inflate and deflate it. Although he claimed it was comfortable, as I was deflating it today the pump started to turn bright orange within 20 seconds of turning it on, and then started sparking and almost caught on fire. This is only after three uses. I was holding the pump in my right hand (it's a hand pump) when I noticed it starting to glow. The bed was only half-deflated. I tried turning off the switch (on the pump), but it wouldn't shut off. I had to pull the plug, and sparks were flying so I almost caught myself on fire.

Now I have a half-deflated bed on the floor, and a pump that doesn't work. Plus I nearly burned myself, and luckily I wasn't electrocuted. I'll call the manufacturer, but right now I'm not a happy camper. The bed itself seems fine, but I didn't receive any manufacturers recalls on the pump, even though I filled out the warranty card and sent it in.

Iso-comfort inflatable mattress
by barbarrington ,Nov 05 '05
Pros: Memory foam topper is a great idea. Pump works great!
Cons: It doesn't make a nice night if it won't stay inflated.
We also bought our iso-comfort Inflatable mattress from Sam's Club. Our married children used it the first time and it lost air. The second time we used it and again it lost air. We figured we must not have the valves shut tightly enough. The second night we double checked the valves. We were laying on the floor within 2 hours. We pumped it up again, and found ourselves on the floor 3 hours later. After pumping it up a third time and being on the floor by morning we decided it wasn't us. We checked carefully for air leaks and couldn't find any. We won't buy this brand again. I can't even find Sofina on the Internet.
